why do you smoke cigarettes and what effects do you get

just a fun little thread I saw there wasn't much in the way of discussion of nicotine. Why do you guys smoke. How much do you smoke and how does it make you feel. I smoke just under half a pack of newports a day and it relives stress and boredom. I like the mini geet it gives me as I use to smoke them heavy on amphetamines but since I have anxiety I cant speed anymore but it reminds me of the good days also sometimes cigarettes just make me feel shitty and have a pulsating headache.
 
i smoked ciggs for about 6 years, usually half a pack a day and just like you said I smoked because it relieved stress and boredom, also I just loved the act of posting up outside and pacing around smoking...

recently tho I quit its been 16 days now and I feel great, I didn't quit cold turkey, now I pack 2-3 skoal pouches a day. Idk if I am going to quit smoking 4 good but my original intention to quit was to be able to hold my breath longer for when I surf and be able to take longer beatings in bigger waves.

taking it one day at a time we'll see how long I last
 
when smoking makes me feel bad it usually is because i am dehydrated. for some reason nicotine kicks the effects of dehydration into high gear for me.

i like to smoke tobacco with weed. i like to smoke while on amps or drunk. of course on opiates.

pretty much sober is the only time when im like eh, whatever. i smoke norwegian shag and lucky strike unfiltered.
 
I cant smoke on opiates.instanly makes me want to puke and gives me vertigo.but I have no opioid tolerance
 
I smoked for approximately 6 years (from age 17 to 23) Camels were what I smoked (Camel "Turkish Royals" were my favorite brand of cigarettes). I smoked originally for the "headrush", the psychoactive effect of nicotine essentially. It acted as a mild stimulant for me, yet also helped me relax after a taxing day. Eventually that effect kind of went away, and smoking merely became a sort of bizarre compulsion for me, spurred on by my physical addiction to nicotine.

I'm now 27 and haven't smoked or bought a pack of cigarettes for 4 years, and have never looked back. Zero desire to ever start it up again, it's an addiction I'm permanently done with thankfully.
 
yeah a cig after a hard days work is one of lifes small pleasures. when I would geet all day and landscape it was a must have.

Smoking opens me up to talk to people without thinking about the right thing to say, or how to say it.

in the beginning the rush was phenomenal. Now it's good, but nothing particularly memorable about it. It's more about opening my mind to myself, if that makes any sense.

First, I started doing drugs just to give my self a present. "Mate, you do a hard life and you diserve some pleasure". Then, I fell in their trap. I was in a situation where I had to feel pleasure all the time. Cigarets is a quick and cheap and easy to find mean of pleasure. That's why I smoke, about 5 cigarets a day. I know cigarets are too toxic for the very little pleasure they give, but I don't want to use other drugs often so I choose these little soldiers of death for every day pleasure.
 
I use to smoke for anxiety, after you get hooked it's worse though. I don't smoke all the time now a pack will last me weeks much better than a carton a week
 
I first started just for fun, because a lot of people I knew smoked and I wanted to know what the big hype was. First cigarette I ever had was a Marlboro Gold. Absolutely hated the taste, ended up putting it out after coughing my ass off for a few seconds because of the harsh hit on my juvenile throat..

A couple years later I began to experience major anxiety and panic attacks as well as many stressors in life that I really took up smoking. My mom got tired of me smoking so many of hers at the time that she decided to just buy me my own packs. At first she hated it, then she came to realize that it's life and I needed it. I smoked my first menthol with an old friend of mine and never went back to non-menthol.

I smoke now to curb my anxiety, sometimes my appetite, if I need some extra help going to the bathroom, if I'm in a social situation, out for a walk, or I just need some quick stress relief. Nothing like an 8 (or more) hour shift at work after a couple hours of classes followed by a nice Newport.

It makes me feel very relaxed, especially after sex. My heart rate is increased so I get a little nicotine buzz. My body vibrates a bit and with every exhale comes letting go of a bad day. I do get an aftertaste though, or I guess more so a dry mouth, so I always need something to drink afterwards lol.
 
I don't really enjoy its effects unless it's a spliff or if i'm drunk/tripping/very high on whatever.
Actually I'm addicted to smoking spliffs so I may smoke some straight tobacco when I don't have any cannabis just for the cravings, that doesn't happen very often though and I plan to quit the spliffs when I grow older and/or get a good vaporizer.
