Why do Psychedelics exist?

I like your opinion. But why do we use it to experience the truth and the universe? Why are they used for spirituality? Thats what I dont get. If they are just poisons developed to defend against other animals why do we learn so much from them?
People are able to think about things and test them internally before trying them out in a real situations. The internal landscape of emotions and sensations is exaggerated and altered on psyches. Are you realizing the source of these kinds of things being special, internal, controllable, part of your nature?

Pretty sure if any tryptamines are 'released' during death it would be the 5-MeO variant. You don't hear too many entity NDE stories..or at least on DMT I never saw what I'd call angels. But 5-MeO-DMT fits the bill pretty well as far as yer run of the mill NDE experience. Over the summer having found myself in a head on collision, I know what I am convinced of.

so because a 5meo trip apparently "feels" like a NDE (of which i'm wondering if youve experiences both?) you conclude that 5 methoxylated tryps are released during death? I don't believe that 5meo tryps are even endogenous (but then again i'm no neuropharmacologist/biologist), so how would our body release them at death?

we use serotonin, fungi use psilocybin, plants use DMT....its just a product of divergent evolution from a common ancestor that use some tryptophan (or similar peptide building block) to "be alive"....all life is pretty much the same and the chemical messengers used withing different froms of life are still very similar to their ancestral parent, therefore a different varient of a tryptamine is similiar enough moleculary to fit into a receptor evolved to suit another closely related tryptamine.

that makes the importnat question what one of the 4th or 5th respondents to this post asked, "not why do thesd molecules exist, but why do the states they produce exist"?

psood0nym or anyone, sorry if it seemed misleading when I said we only use a small proportion of grey matter, it would be probably more accurate to say that the brain behaves in an almost infinite number of ways, seemingly uniquely any time.

Psychedelics facilitate altered states of consciousness. Consciousness is the experience of self-awareness within the context of an environment. Psychedelics are the environmental materials connecting us to other forms of consciousness. Our environment which helps develop consciousness produces the molecules, arising from the stars and the universe itself, which enable those different patterns and frequencies, commonly derived from plants, and life is more amazing for their presence.

Taking some liberty saying an altered form of consciousness makes life amazing. In my experience, it is all just a matter of shuffling experiences around, perhaps finding some new activities of interest. Pale in comparison to the universe.

Perhaps the altered experience catalyzes intellectual insight and emotional well-being. I would never have seen the true depth of reality and the human mind while tripped out. It was a nasty detour, even if results can be enjoyed again in time.

The mind is able to gather the positives of experiences and is an amazing organ regardless of what one chooses to do. Just think of the many many interesting minds out there that you will never know. How can the assemblage of our whole selves be so varied among people?

Various personal insights came from my struggle with psychedelics. The value is that it can be passed along with adequate force and of course received in the very variation of which I am speaking.

Little penance for the aggravation I suppose, but the mind is able to forgive and forget those experiences in time.

Psychedelics were put on this Earth by God (or whichever Creator you believe in) to help humans to evolve spiritually. In Mexico, they say that psilocybin mushrooms are put there by God to help the "sick in spirit". Maybe ALL humans are a bit sick in spirit, so psychedelics can help ALL of humanity, I believe. They help us to become better and more empathetic individuals. They also help us to strengthen our connection with God, the universe, nature, animals, and other humans. They help to cure a variety of emotional woes, from depression to anxiety. They also help humans to appreciate and create art and music. Mathematicians and architects are assisted by psychedelics, as well. I could write an entire list of all of the beneficial effects on humanity provided by psychedelics. These are just a few.

After being fully immersed in the RC scene lately, I have returned to natural psychs (Ayahuasca, shrooms, Morning Glory, Peyote, etc.) used in a ritualistic, proto-spiritual, shamanic fashion. With my LT Trip-Buddy, the talk of psychedelic Spirits/Consciousness in natural psychs is often discussed. I feel that there is a Gaian Consciousness, or in other words, that the Earth Herself has some sort of Consciousness, perhaps better described rather than Active, more as a Sub-Conscious. I think We, together with all of Life, share a sub-conscious link with Gaia. She has produced these substances as a means to communicate, express LOVE, and teach. She wants us to see our connection to Herself and each other. She wants us to protect Her from harm, and in return, She provides for us. She is aware of the many extinction events in Herstory, and She offers Knowledge that may help US survive inevitable future Events, even if that means Leaving Her, to populate the cosmos. She knows all chicks must eventual leave the nest, and She feeds these to prepare US for Maturity. But until that Time, She urges we unite and live peacefully, appreciating Her coddling while it is available. Prolly just BS, hence why I refrain from the B-Word (Believe), but not a bad way to live.

Let us see what you are truly asking. Psychedelics are a reflection of this universe and you and everything. It is the gear and frame work that keeps the show running. So what your really asking is, Why does LIFE exist? Why does ANYTHING exist at all?

Why is the sky blue? Is there a psychology to the sky being blue? Does it being blue have a meaning beyond simply reflected light?

Why does the beauty of the sunset exist? Is it beauty because it was made beautiful over time by our eyes?

I find it particularly fascinating that, through alteration of our brain's "normal" functioning, that it is possible to achieve a state of experiencing oneness with the universe, or the universal consciousness, something greater than yourself that you and everything is connected to, or whatever you want to call it. Many people have experienced this (myself included) and it would be impossible to convince me that this experience is just a hallucination. At least as fascinating to me is that, through use of dissociatives, which basically shut off sensory perception, the same state is possible to be reached (as I proved to myself recently). To me, the implications for what life even IS are staggering. Whether psychedelics evolved by accident or through design is irrelevant to me. Well, not irrelevant, because if it was by design that would imply something designing. But it's the least important of the questions to me.
