Why do opiates always make me sick and give me headaches?

I've tried many many varied doses oxycodone, and each time I end up vomiting and looonnngg headaches.
Now today I tried 120mg Codeine, and again I've ended up just puking 40min in, and resting with a never-ending headache.

Do I metabolize them differently to most opiate-lovers?
I just can't find the recreational value in these, I end up having 5 minute euphoric bits at the start of a trip, then it's downhill from there.

EDIT:
arrrr, the extremely sensitive sound and light makes everything so much worse!

Sorry to have such a negative post :(

Sadly those are very common side affects of opiates. Some people are affected more than others, some not at all. I sometimes get headaches from opiates. Perhaps they're not for you or you might want to try a lower dose.

For Nausea some people take Promethazine, but it does add to the sleepy-ness side effect. For headaches you might want to try excedrine migraine before dosing. If you are using opiates with APAP or aspirin you might want to keep in mind that taking more is hard on your liver and you might have to take less.

Good Luck!

Thankyou for your replies, my headache is tampering off now after an 8 hour ordeal :|
Fexofenadine helped with the itchies though :)

I've tried lower doses and I end up just not feeling anything, so it's either headaches and nausea or nothing!

It might be a blessing in disguise for you on some level. :)

Yeah, I've thought the same thing :)

A lot of drugs I've tried, have just failed miserably and I've ended up never touching them again.
I've often thought of maybe it was helping me, warning me, making sure I'd never get addicted to most of these drugs.

methamphatmines and all anolouges crossed off
alochol
ciggs
opiates

all a never-touch for me now :)
Something out their really doesn't want me to touch this stuff x)
As I'm predisposed to many things, and addiction runs in my family.
So yeah, I guess opiates is a cross-off.

I finally ate a meal for the first time in like 24 hours... so hungry, luckily I could finally get something down <3

Hi,

I can relate to your post. No matter what opiate I try I have felt terrible on it and it dosent take much to make me feel unwell , its usually just the minimal active dose recomended for an adult my size.

I have tried many opiates searching for one I can tolerate and after trying codene, morphine, tramadol, hydrocodone, fentayl and oxycodone I have worked out the reaction I have can be devided into two category's...Sedative reaction vs Neuroexcitory reaction

Sedative opiates like morphine, codene, fentanyl cause me bradycardia (slowed heart rate) fever, diziness, naseau, repiratory depression, difficulty swallowing, iregular heart rate, acid reflux, feeling really unpleasant sedation and a motion sickness like fatigued, lathergic, gross and miserable feeling.

Neuroexcitory Opiates like Tramadol, Oxycodone, hydromorphone (dilaudid) have a stimulating effect and cause fevers, rapid heart rates, high blod pressure but also rapid change and fluctuations in my vitals, muscle spasms, twicthing, teeth chattering, neck stifness, headaches, throbbing pain pressure build up in my skull, confusion, agitation and feeling horribly unwell.

My reaction is attributed to my damaged Autonomic nervous system that is hypersensative to any stimulant or deprassant that acts on my Autonomic nervous system. So I am not sure what the situation is in your case. However before I developed this medical condition known as "Autonomic Dysfunction" I used to take a lot of stimulants like exstasy and amphetamines every weekend and I didnt have any problems tolerating it, during that period I twice tried heroin and it just made me really sick and puke for ages, I hated it but I may have had too much . But now hearing your case it has made me wonder what if I had an opiate sensitivity back then which was only made worse upon developing my medical condition.

I'm not sure if your hypersensitive like me or if you took too much of a high dose , I know that if I took 120mg codene I probably wouldnt be here writing this.

Well 10mg oxy used to make me feel extremely shit, anything upwards wouldn't change much, except the amount of vomiting.

I found your post VERY intriguing, and I really appreciate you taking the time to post that, it's sent me on quite the researching journey.
