Ok so, I want to tell you a little bit about myself so you can answer my question a little more accurately. My drug of choice is Oxycodone (Oxycontin), but I take Alprazolam (Xanax) daily too. I also smoke Cannabis throughout the day, around 1.5g a day. I was taking 160mg - 200mg of Oxy a day and 1mg - 2mg of Xanax a day. I weigh 150lbs and I am 5'11. My Doctor prescribed me Buprenorphine/Naloxone (Suboxone) for opioid addiction. I was on 12mgs a day for 5 weeks, I would take one 8mg strip in the morning and a half a strip (4mg) in the evening. I waited 50 hours after my last Oxy dose before taking my first Suboxone dose. At first the Suboxone worked very well but only for about a week, after that it stopped working as well. The next 4 weeks I was not able to eat ANYTHING, my appetite was basically gone. I was also extremely irritable. I could not talk to friends, I could barely talk to my parents, I was a total asshole. My stomach was in serious pain every morning, I felt nauseous and had cramps. I was very constipated, I would crap maybe 4 or 3 times a week and it was only very small amounts at a time. I just did not feel comfortable in my own skin. And whenever I would tell my Doctor all this he would just tell me to take another 8mg strip. I eventually stopped the Suboxone cold turkey and waited 3 days before taking Oxycodone again. I am now back to 160mg of Oxy a day :(.
So why was this happening to me? Why did I still feel like shit? I want to get off opiates so if I could make Suboxone work for me that would be amazing! My Doc is not helping very much so some answers would be appreciated. Thank You.

Yeah if u went from taking all that to only taking Subs I can see why ud feel like that. Personally I use weed with subs because I feel horrible in my own skin without it + I also sometimes use Klonopin. With a full agonist like oxy I wouldn't need either weed or benzos for my anxiety. Personally I feel my life is better with subs + weed + occasional benzo than with full opies. You could also try just a lower dose of subs cuz 12mg/day is a shiite load. I went from Methadone to subs and never used more than 8mg a day but ofc YMMV.

Ya, I used Xanax and smoked bud while taking the Suboxone. I was smoking all day long basically but I cut the Xanax down to 0.5mg - 1mg a day at the most.

Such a high dose of suboxone. Have you tried a lower dose? I've known several people who can't handle over 8mg a day, few hard core H addicts.

My body does not tolerate Bupe/Nax well. I have major migraines on it, anxiety, stomach cramps. Methadone works better for me.

Sorry you are going through this. Hope you feel better. Talk to your Dr. about lowering your dose, you may feel better.

I thought it was a bit high of a dose when my Doctor first told me to take that much. And that's exactly how I feel, very stressed out. I think im going to try Methadone instead of Suboxone. Thanks :)

Don't mix benzos with subx and especially methadone. I suggest you read up on harm reduction/deadly drug combos on this site, will help in the future.

Again, lowering your dose/dosing the right time of day may be more beneficial for you.

When I 1st did Suboxone, the 8mg had my head fool, and by 3-4 pm that day, I was back in craving/anxiety mode. So I learned to take less, then dosed twice a day. If I remember, it was 2mg in am, 2mg pm. I truly believe eating/drinking during the day causes effects to diminish because it's sublingual dosing. (just my opinion).

I couldn't tolerate the subx any longer, so I went to methadone. Methadone, for me, last longer with less misery. However, I don't take it long periods of time, and I take the pill. There's no "high" for me on methadone, just feel normal and not sick.

Good luck!

I'd be very wary of switching to methadone personally. I switched to methadone from subs and it worked great at first, then I just became lethargic and miserable, and kept chasing highs with benzos and booze. Methadone is a lot harder to kick, it becomes a serious habit and if you were just taking the oxy orally and are now just on subs it would be a big mistake to step it up to methadone imho. Getting off methadone was hell.

Then again if you have serious chronic pain then methadone can be a godsend. It kinda sounds like you need some time to adjust to the bupe and yo life without full agonists, it sucks at first. I bet you'd feel a lot better at a lower dose, I felt so much better at 2 mg and I was prescribed 24 mg/day at first.

If you really are trying to get off opiates, like you said, then definitely don't switch to methadone, in all likelihood you'll be dependent on it for years.
