i dropped acid today, and i started tracing back my problem of weed dependency(all day everyday smoker)
i came to the conclusion that i have been getting high everyday because it is "something to do," if that makes sense to other people
im still under the influence of acid right now and i love the clear headspace and all, but there is still a small part of me that wants to "get high"
im trying to figure out what exactly about "getting high" that i am so dependent on
do you think its that warm, fuzzy feeling?
does anyone else even know what im talking about when i say warm, fuzzy feeling?

i just acknowledged this, but that warm, fuzzy feeling might not be the feeling i get when i get high.
maybe that IS the high, which i feel stupid saying after not being sober for too long.

I have many hobbies. My wife actually considers my accumulation of hobbies a hobby in its own right. I smoked everyday for almost 10 years. As I've stated many times on this site, only in the evening after everything majorly important was done. I've been without pot for nearly 2 months now and I still want to get high. I quit pills after a 10 year long addiction to pain pills and wanted to do them badly for several weeks after. There was a point though, when I didn't crave that type of high anymore. Same with cigarettes, I smoked from 2000 until 2009 and for almost a year, especially after I ate a big juicy steak, I still wanted to smoke. I've quit smoking pot several times over the years, to pass a drug test for work or to get a new job or whatever but the constant is, I've always wanted to smoke. Again, I go back to the spiritual feeling I get from pot. When I breath deep in that dank smoke and blow it out up to the stars, to all four corners of the world I feel strangely connected. I could cite the jaguar's of South America that eat hallucinogenic roots and seem to thoroughly enjoy getting high for no other reason than getting high. This makes me think an evolutionary mechanism is involved with getting high and many of these animals whom we think we are more advanced than don't simply, eat, sleep, screw, shelter, repeat. A primal desire to alter our mind's state seem to be deeply ingrained in our species.

There was a portion in "why we do what we do?" psychology book where it talks about eating and how many "fat people" eat on the clock and through "events". maybe this can be a similar thing? you smoke according to events or time rather than a controlled smoking pattern.

furthermore i don't think it's completely a bad thing to smoke pot alot. the THC and CBD could be good for cancer and such. but it's better to vape or use orally if you want to maximize the cannabis benefits :)

well if you feel it's a problem then maybe just stay off the pot for a bit. if you feel it's not a problem then smoke it up bro or sis!

Haha potatoman hit it on the head. Smoking weed will trigger the reward centers in the brain, giving you that pleasant feeling and relaxing sensation.

We are driven by our reward centers- thinks like eating and sex are natural triggers, if they didn't trigger the reward centers we wouldn't get any pleasure out of them, and thus we would die as a species. However there are many substances(drugs) that will also trigger the reward center in our brain, and some of those substances may give a much stronger trigger than say eating a good meal would. This is why(how I understand it at least) if you have ever done heroin you will probably have a stronger compulsion to shoot dope versus eat food, even if you are starving.
