Why do I feel like a monkey when i use nitrous?

Pretty straightforward. I always feel like a monkey when I use nitrous. Why? I have no idea. If i had a dollar for every moment i spent thinking about this....

Nitrous just makes my vision periscope massively to a point, that also seems to be spinning/strobing, and is surrounded by blackness. Weird.
