I'm American and I see myself agreeing with
@December Flower in this thread more often than not. I see him attempting to have a rational discussion and people either completely not understanding what he is trying to say or simply trolling for entertainment. Then again, I'm what the conservative types claim to be an America-hater even though that couldn't be further from the truth. When I see something wrong with our country, I point it out and want to fix it. The true America-haters see something wrong and either knowingly deny that it is wrong or stupidly don't even notice, either way they merely want to perpetuate the status quo of the rich getting richer while promoting unchecked capitalism. Oh yeah, and dOn'T tOuCh My GuNz!!
As an American, I 100% agree that our government is evil in the way it has treated other countries up to the present day. I 100% agree that the Native Americans were genocided and displaced by Americans and Euro-Americans as well as the American government not honoring a single treaty ever made with a Native tribe. While some people like to claim tribes presently profit off casinos, I would like to point out that they are a minority and further, only the chiefs and leaders profit while most of the everyday citizens still live in poverty and squalor on those reservations.
The funny thing is, conservatives also claim the government is evil but just can't stand when foreigners point this out. December Flower, I noticed that most of the Americans that are trolling you and giving you shit are of the conservative variety. Remember, conservative Americans say the government doesn't work then get elected to office only to prove themselves right.
December Flower, I know you mentioned the left vs right dichotomy that is destroying our nation from the inside out and I agree with this as well. I'm so far left that mainstream democrats don't even like me and the feeling is mutual. I only tend to vote democrat because many of them are better alternatives than the batshit crazy Christo-fascist nationalistic xenophobic republicans. Don't let the bastards bring you down. I'm sure there are other Americans around here who feel the same way I do, maybe they're afraid to speak up for fear of getting flamed or something.
I agree with you, guy. And I found that I agree with a variery of the things December Flower said. However, he seemed to make it very one sided. He only spoke of abuses of other nations when forced to, it seemed to me.
What really got me in it was the numerous things he said which were not true.
Disinformation is a huge problem currently and I have a huge problem with it. It's mostly (but not all) a tactic of the right and the Russians, but I'm being redundant.
There's a reason they call them "red" states.
We suck, but other countries do to. Some more than us, even.
Here's a learning thing for me in my life. You may or may not be old enough to remember the revolutionaries of the 60's. You may or may not have supported them, I did.
There was a tendency among some to look to Russia for guidance and as an example at the time. I was into short wave listening and had QSL'ed Radio Moscow (easy, first catch). I not only wrote another reception report, I asked for any information they could send me and expressed my support. I got stuff from them for years, to the great consternation of my father.
Russia at the time was already a failed communist experiment. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
We already needed a lot of work back then, Russia was prolly already much worse.
They can both be true, I will say again.
The 60's "revolutionaries" idolizing Russia was misguided.
It's funny enough that, although I thought December Flower didn't focus on Germany's issues in WW2 enough at first, I think that Germany is one of the more progressive and better nations in the world right now.
They actually govt funded BioNtech's research into the first Covid vaccine (Pfizer is a parent company to BioNtech).
They didn't pre-order and then say they funded like Trump (many nations pre-ordered, BTW), they actually directly funded the first Covid vaccine.
That'll start some shit, maybe.
