Heroin Why can't I feel my dope anymore?

I've been IV using black tar heroin for 2 years now and for the last couple weeks I can't feel my shots. I've tried increasing my dose, but it's not working. I've tried using a couple different veins in case the one I was using wasn't any good anymore. I know I'm doing enough because I get pins and needles all over my body. It's really starting to piss me off. I'm sick if I don't do it, but I can't even feel good when I do. I'm a junkie for no reason. Am I doing something wrong? Help.
 
yeah, it's just tolerance. take for instance, I haven't been able to even really nod for the last four years or so
 
You're not doing anything wrong. It's just you've built up tolerance. Over time your opiate receptors become desensitised, requiring more of the drug to fire at the same intensity as they did before you started using. They will eventually become so desensitised that even with higher than normal doses, way over and above what you need just to stay free of withdrawal symptoms and feel normal you will never get the same feeling you had when you first started. You can chase it all you like but unless you're very lucky and highly unusual you will never get that feeling back. Maybe when you quit for a while and start using again, but even then the renewed intensity wears off very quickly because you're body's been programmed to deal with it once already and tolerance reestablishes itself all the faster. That's why H is such a bitch. It teases you with the promise of its everlasting golden glow, then once you're hooked it turns round and says 'no, sorry, I don't do that anymore, sucker. Now get out there and feed me.'

Course, it might just be you've got an unusually weak batch of H floating about of late and in a few weeks time you'll be back to how things were. It won't last though.

I don't really know if you were joking here, rajh, but I know if I were the OP and read that I'd be kind of upset at its implications. It's my personal philosophy that this community should feel, to all people, like a safe-haven to ask legitimate questions that they cannot otherwise ask in everyday life.

Not tryin' to rag on you, but I felt weird reading that w/out commenting on it.

Good looking out Vaya. Anyway, I know I'm a junkie. That's why I said it. I don't need anyone to tell me that what I'm doing is "wrong". I was just asking for advice to see if maybe there might be another explanation to why I'm not feeling anything, other than my high tolerance.

Precisely, and I wanted to afford you the opportunity to know that many of us understand that. In most cases, we're current or former addicts or users ourselves. Not much breathing room on placing judgment on others - even if I'd wanted to :)

In fact, I'd like to give you an honest and informed answer, but you're gonna have to meet me halfway. Answer these questions:
1. Have you recently switched suppliers? (Or, conversely, do your suppliers vary kind of frequently?)
2. Does the material look, feel, smell and possibly even taste the same before it's prepped for IV use?
3. Was this loss of effect literally a sudden event, or did it happen over a period of time (could be over 3 days, for all I care, or a month, or what have you)
4. Can you feel other opiates/opioids? Can you feel powdered dope, but not tar?

...Starting with that basic information can help me to whittle down from a plethora of speculation what *may* be the cause of this.

Tolerance, and how good is your dope? Are you sure you're not getting a shitty batch and you're just getting enough dope to stay well?
 
I see how offensive my previous comment was and I sincerely apologize.

I thought about giving an answer that Tiff could use and would be off to go get an incredible rush from boosting that she hasn't been able to get for some time.
but sometimes a slap in the face is a better remedy before somebody hurts or kills themselves.

Either way I'm sorry for calling you a junkie, it's just you called yourself one in the first post.
 
Tiffany; this is a little off topic but I'd just like to ask; when you first started using black tar about how much would you use in a hit?

I've just been curious about black tar compared to H HCl lately.
 
u know ive have been in situations where i had to get morphine sulphate to get by for a few days in the past and now matter how much i did i wouldnt get "high" get ONE HELLUVA PINS AND NEEDLE RUSH/CHEST CAVING IN rush but no high ,but i would get nausous sp) i really never understood why,and back then i would get high from 160mg of oxy IV so i really didnt understand it


actual heroin never gave me pins n needles it was a "good rush" tingly joints /stomach/body but not anything like morphine by itself so i really dont get it when people say oh im getting pins and needles ?? everybody around me got a tingly rush from heroin as well ..so u sure ur getting real heroin .n not morphine base?and its not strong enough

Okay... some would say once you're a junkie... you're a junkie forever regardless if you're using. Opinions?

Yea... not that I'm encouraging you to get more powerful H or anything... but 'black tar' is often absolute shite. At least around here (London). Less of the good stuff rather than lots of the cheap stuff is my philosophy with all drugs.

What other explanation can there be besides tolerance, you need to take a break, or your buying shitty dope???

'You forgot to press the shift button while doing your shot, then you'll get that virgin rush and high like the 1st time you ever did one'
 
IMO Tolerance and dope quality (maybe?) . Euphoria is also a side effect and is not produced EVERY time. I also never understood why people injected black tar, seeing as how I dont really get a rush from IV, yet I do from smoking :/ .
 
I only tried H once.... for about a year, and while my habit never had me doing more than 20 or 30 units at a time, I had a friend who was full steam ahead. I watched him do 60+ unit shots and then wondered if I was gonna have to get the ambulance rolling. He just kept upping the dose to get the desired effect and it never seemed to fail him. Of course there was a time or two when he did have to take that ambulance ride. One in particular when he was over another acquaintances house and stepped over the line just a little. They ended up calling 911 and dragging him out the door on the sidewalk and leaving him there, dying. But it all worked out. He was over my house doing the same thing a couple days later.

More water/solution doesn't make a shot stronger. More dope/substance does.

You see where your comparison fails yes?
I can shoot 100cc's of water and not feel anything. The minute I add some dope to this, that's when I'll feel the dope.

You're not the first person I've come across to think the amount of water used makes a difference, and I don't understand what makes someone think this.
Isn't something like this obvious?
 
Oh, I didn't realize you were there monitoring the amount of H we all did, my bad.

This was Hollywood in the mid 90's. I was surrounded by hardcore junkies. One of the first things I was taught was use the smallest amount of water possible.
