I love ambien. for some reason, ambien is the drug that just makes me go "Ah.....much better....." I cant explain why either, it just is. I've always heard and read that z-drugs were less addicting and less addiction potential than benzo's, but i've found that to be sort of the opposite. for instance, I'm prescribed Ativan (lorazepam) but I've never had "psychological" addiction issues with it perse.

but ambien, holy shit. I really struggle not to abuse ambien and it's really one of the only drugs that i can honestly say that i've experienced psychological addiction with. phsyical withdrawal is almost non-existent with ambien, but psychologically - it's the most addictive drug i've drugied.

Ativan is very physically addicting in my experience, but psychologically? i can pretty easily stop using it. yeah i abuse it abit, but only for a couple days and then i stop. it's so weird. i can stop myself from abusing ativan - which is debatibly more addicting understudies anyways) but not ambien. i delberatley try to get high off of ambien, which i don't ever do with my adderall or ativan (okay, I do sometimes but it's rare) and the only ativan abuse is really so i can potenate the effects of ambien.

why is this? i though ambien wasn't supposed to be very addictive? but here i am....crushing up ambien cr pills so i can get a better high.......i feel like a junkie. but it's either this, or risk having nightmares about things im not even sure happened. so idk, i guess i'd rather be totally fucked up on ambien than be in constant fear.

but another weird thing is - nobody else really seems to like the ambien high. I love the mental impairment that zolpidem causes, its amazing - better than ethanol and only 1/3 of the side-effects too! but i only seem to be the one who likes taking ambien for the high. does anyone else like the ambien high?

I love 10mg Stilnox + 5mg Valium. Nice combo. Dissociative effect at the onset, then you're dopey as hell. Wipes your memory though...at least it erased mine...I was at the doctor's office that day and I was anxious so dropped 10mg Stildem and 5mg Valium and an hour later the effects hit seemingly all at once, and I couldn't remember where I'd put the prescriptions the doctor had written for me - I'd put them in a zippered compartment in my backpack but forgot and spent about half a day looking for the scripts, I finally emptied my entire backpack and there they were ;)

Don't touch this shit if you want to be able to remember what you did that day because you won't!

Straight answer: We don't actually know for sure.

Of course some drugs are stronger than others however that does not necessarily make one drug more addicting than another. I can only speak for myself when i say that i believe amphetamines are the most addicting drug. I only have two supports for this thesis. First comes from personal experience, i just found amphetamines to be most pleasurable. Second is based off how they work, amphetamines trick the brain's reward system which was designed to provide us human beings a drive to eat, sleep, search for stimulation, and most importantly reproduce. The brain's reward system was specifically designed to be addicting; to drive us as humans to survive and carry on the existence of the species.

When you boil off all this chemistry, neuroscience, pharmacology jazz you're left with not much of a clear answer. I mean our drugs of choice are polar opposites, down verses up.

In conclusion... The brain is an amazing and mysterious thing that science is just beginning to understand. It's simply a matter of personal preference as far as we know. Hope this helps and feel free to PM me with any questions.

?

Some people hate certain drugs, others love them.

It all depends on a persons subjective experience and appreciation or hate of certain drugs.

Not hard to understand.

This is true, though I have noticed that some drugs really make me 'fiend' for more to an unusual extent, amphetamines being one example. The level of urge to re-dose doesn't always correlate to how much I enjoy the drug, though. Say, Ketamine, I adore it. But I can leave a bunch for the next day. Amphetamines I actually enjoy the effects of a lot less, but a session can't end until I finish or flush the drugs. Slightly off topic, perhaps, though, since OP, it sounds like you just really enjoy the effects of Ambien. There could be more going on there, specific to the chemical itself, but from what you say, it sounds like you've found a drug you really, really like. And when you really, really like something (sex, drugs, whatever), your brain is going to try to get you to keep dosing it with that thing.

Wow, I don't even remember making this thread, but that's Ambien for you.

Everything I said in the OP is true, though. For some reason, Ambien is very addicting for me and I love the high it gives me. Last night, I took three Ambien CR pills (when I'm only supposed to take one) and I crushed them up to a powdery pulp - mixed it with Propylene Glycol (because Zolpidem is rather insoluble in water) and drank the pulpy mix. So that means I took near 40MG's of Ambien...
