According to posts on pillreport.com out pressed pills are almost always bad.
I believe someone said they are almost always "pipes"

Does this mean they contain that piperazine stuff?

And is there a reason that they out press the bad pills? is it easier or something?

I'm not sure why they outpress it, but the pills I recently had on the weekend, blue supermans, were out pressed and were deffinetly pipz.

Piperazine: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piperazine

Piperazine is probably the most common adulterant being sold as MDMA, and it's among the shittiest in terms of experience. It feels like you're about to roll, but then it takes a very unpleasant turn. Different pipes have different effects, in my experience it was extremely tweaky, I couldn't sleep, my whole body hurt the whole night, and I was panicking and kept hearing things that weren't there.

I assume that it's a common adulterant because it's extremely cheap to create, doesn't require an illegal precursor to make, and feels like MDMA in the beginning just a bit.

There is NO correlation over the long term period between out pressed or in pressed pills meaning anything.
Naturally over a short period there may be some co incidence but using a press to determine what is in a pill is ridiculous.

^^^^^^^ What Dan said. I've had pipes a couple of times, they aren't great, but it didn't turn terrible, so I guess it depends on the person, and what really is in the Pill TMFP, BZP Who knows really!

I wish the govs would get their head out of their ass and legalize and regulate the production of all this stuff. They are creating more problems then they are solving.

Thank you for the pipz information and yeah it just said on pill reports too always be skeptical of outpresses but obviously the shape a chemical is pressed into does not affect its contents.

Does anyone on here know anything about pill pressing and how that works?

Powder gets put into a machine, shuffles down a chute and into a mold. The top comes down and the entire thing gets pressed under pressure to form a pill.

A manufacturer can choose to use any mold they desire or have at hand. It could be out pressed but could just as easily be inpressed or even contain no logo at all.

I also wonder why outpresses are mostly pipes. My best guess is that they are trying to make the presses look unique so people would be more eager to buy them? Back when I wasn't scared of buying pills, cool presses were definitely part of the fun. Can't think of any other reason.

And yes, I know that the way a pill looks doesn't matter as far as contents, but here in the US, outpresses are almost always pipes. Seriously.

exactly. a pills shape has no indication of what chemical is in it. But, all the outpress's ive come across have been pipes. And almost all of the reports on pillreports are too with outpressed pills.

i'd remind people that, in the absence of any data in support of this, this is just one person's opinion based on one person's experience. as such, and with respect, i'd say it carries very little weight in harm-reduction terms.

testing your pills > guessing based on what they look like

Uhhh... I do test my pills, every single time. I was only commenting on the fact that it is a very common trait in the US for pipes. It's still valuable to know because it saves you from buying crap in the first place. I know some dealers are nice, but mine aren't and wouldn't let me test them and then decide if I want to buy. I can however ask what the press is and if it's outpress I don't waste my money.

The OP was asking about outpresses because he saw on pillreports that most were and wanted to know why. I was simply letting him know that I would also like to know why, and I was warning people in the US that they should generally be avoided. As far as data to support it, all you have to do is follow ecstasydata.org and pillreports.com to see that it is enough of a trend to be weary of anything outpressed.

it only saves you from buying crap if you assume that outpress automatically equals pipe. it's this assumption which i have a problem with.

So rather then make smart investments and cut your losses you'd make the gamble, and usually waste your money? I DON'T assume outpress automatically equals pipes, but they usually are, and ecstasydata.org and pillreports.com back that up.

Like I said, I can't test my pills before I buy, and I don't know anyone else who can either. When something has a bad reputation, I avoid it. You can only waste so much money on bunk pills before you start to be very selective about what you purchase. I stick to pills with a good reputation and test it once I purchase. If that isn't harm reduction, I don't know what is.

Also, it's not really just my opinion. I imagine if you were to do a poll on this, people in the US who follow pillreports and edata would largely agree that outpresses are currently something to be weary of, and there's a reason for that. Go to pillreports and type "outpress" in the search reports option and look how many of them are pipes. I'm not claiming there isn't a good outpress out there, but they are rare right now, and everyone who's a regular on pillreports knows this.

OBVIOUSLY testing is better than guessing based on what they look like but you don't always have that option before you make the purchase. I don't know what fairy tale land you live in where all dealers let you test before buying with a big smile, but in the United States thats simply not the case.

As far as your "no data to support this" claim goes, that is ridiculous. Please take a minute to browse edata and pillreports and let me know the percentage of outpress pills that have been determined to be real (whether it be a scientific or subjective conclusion, as we don't always have the luxury of knowing for sure). Seriously, go to pillreports and search "outpress" and let me know what you find.

I find it funny that as a moderator, in a harm reduction discussion forum, you "have a problem" with someone pointing out that outpresses in the US are typically piperazines or some other adulterated compound (a claim which CERTAINLY DOES have evidence supporting it). So what you'd rather people do is just buy them anyways, test them, lose the money, and then have potentially dangerous substances in their possession. You're giving people too much credit man. Bored people will take pills that they know arent MDxx anything. I get that YOU had a fine experience with pipes (and so have I) but some of the cocktails are sickening and dangerous. Taking a precaution like avoiding a press with a bad rep could only yield good results in my book. It's not like if you opted to not buy an outpress and it ended up being a good pure MDMA pill none would ever come around again.

Please elaborate on why you have a problem playing it safe.

my problem is the fact that guessing what's in a pill based solely on its appearance is just that - a guess.

for me, guessing is of little value when it comes to harm reduction.

i don't see where i said that. putting words in my mouth devalues your post.

I've never had an out press pill, but I unlike most people enjoy Piperazine.

I've had 2 different Pipe pills (accoirding to pillreports.com) and one of those rolls was the best I've ever had.

But it also could be it really wasnt a pipe, I didn't test it or anything I just pillreported it.

So I could be wrong.

Alasdairm, you wrote that testing your pills is greater than guessing based on appearance and stood behind that statement AFTER the distinction was made that this is a precaution used before buying, implying that when making the decision to buy a pill you have the option to either test OR guess. If that's not what you meant then you need to reevaluate how to choose to articulate your logic. Its not simply a "guess", its an educated guess that one could make with just a few minutes of research through the aforementioned sites. I guess you missed that... You prefer the "just buy it" approach to harm reduction I suppose.

As for the fine experience on pipes comment, I confused your name with Acadian, I apologize.

The disappointment here however is your lack of a real response. This alone illegitimizes every post you made in this thread. You don't have a clear stance on this beyond "but it's just a guess", and since that isn't quite true you're not left with much else. I know this is a trivial discrepancy, but I don't understand your "problem" with someones conclusion drawn from what seems like genuine research and experience, expressed with good intention, that is agreed upon by a majority in the US community.

Well guys I have to agree almost all of them are fake but the first roll I ever ate was outpressed and it was real. It was a blue batman and it tested as a medium dose of MDMA. That is the only outpress that i've ever had that i knew was real. It's rare but it can happen.

5 years ago here in Australia i remember there were two batches of the same 'Outpress', (just two different colours, one became avaliable a few weeks after the other)
I will say, these were some of the most potent, euphoric, longest lasting E's ive ever come across here in Australia.. They would be on my top five of the best pills ive ever taken
Never come across anything like them since, and probley never will again..
Very unique in shape, size, smell and colour...

So i will say...., my small experience with 'outpresses' was a great one...
