I got a gym membership about 4 months ago and have been using it about 3-5 times a week since. I do an assortment of excercises everytime I go but I dont seem to be loosing any weight and very minimal cenimeters. I rarely eat unhealthily and I have been watching what I eat for the last 4 months.

I only really wanted to loose about 5-10 kilos and it seems like im gainnig weight rather than loosing it. I dont understand why. Can someone help?

What kind of exercises? If you're just lifting weights you're more than likely building muscle mass which is what could be keeping your weight the same. You're still burning fat, but replacing it with heavier than fat muscle. If you want to lose weight, incorporate 45 min to 1 hour of cardio in each time you work out.

Ok this is my usual week. Im female.

Monday - I do a body pump class. If you don't know what body pump is its basically a weight class. - 1 hour

Tuesday - Body Attack - which is high intensity cardio - 1 hour

Wednesday - Pilates - 1 hour

Thursday - Body combat - This is a mixture of martial arts - 1 hour

Friday - Boxing - 1 hour

Saturady - walk for an hour then 20 minutes xtraining and 20 minutes step

Sunday - Afro beat - This is like a African dancing class. 1 hour

* I usually will skip one or two classes a week but this gives you some idea.

So as you can see I do quite a bit of Cardio already. You might have a point about the thyriod thing though.

If you want to get smaller, I highly recommend long distance running.

However if you do have thyroid problems you can be eating next to nothing and running like crazy and not see results; this was my problem.

Fairnymph,

You didn't mention that before, if you have a thyroid problem it is treatable with medication.

Craziness..

You are the first younger person who is not obese that I have ever come across to have any thyroid issues.

It seems you have a really good workout schedule going. I understand you arent losing pounds, but have you lost inches and toned up at all? I would imagine that you MUST have toned up, and that counts more than pounds.

The only sure way to lose weight is to burn more calories than you take in..what kind of things are you eating?

Ok my average daily food intake goes something think this :-

Breakfast - A piece of fruit usually banana. I also eat a high fibre cereal cause I suffer from fishers usually with low fat milk. or toast with promite.

Lunch - Salad or pasta. Im Italian so I eat alot of pasta.

Dinner - I eat alot of rice and pasta. This could possibly be my problem. I also eat lean red meats and Salad.

I have lost centimeters but not really enough for me to be happy. I do so much work and Im not really seeing any results.

You are eating too much too late in the day. NEVER eat carbs for dinner! Stick to salad and protein. If you like have them for lunch.

Best of all: big breakfast, medium lunch, and small dinner.

Yeah I realised that im eating too much at night. This is hard to fix since I live at home and my parents are italian like I said so they base there life around food. I can't see myself changing the way they do things.

I dont know if the pasta is whole grain or white. My parents usually make it from scratch so its home made.

I work full time at a pretty seditary job so this might also be my problem.

Dinner was always a big thing at my house also. But I decided to try starting the day big and ending it small and replaced dinner with a protein shake. It worked wonders!

I know when you work all day, it's really nice to be able to come home and have an enjoyable dinner. Maybe for a week you could just try eating more salad type things for dinner and see whether it works for you. I'm not 'anti-carbs' but I do think that the emphasis should be more on lighter things like fruit and vegetables. Also, apparently you shouldn't eat carbs after 3 pm because they won't have burnt off by the time you get to sleep.

^^^The whole carbs at night thing, while true may be a little overexagerated in this case. As far as I can tell, unless you are eating a LOT of servings in your three meals, and/or your exercise sessions are very short or not intense at all, I do not see how your body cannot be changing at all.

Maybe you should consider following a more structured program? I would suggest Body For Life by Bill Phillips. If youa re still not seeing any change in your body than somehting else might be going on..

I do eat carbs at dinner at least 3 times a week but I also do very high intensity exersize about 4 times a week. I am seeing changes but im not loosing kilos im gaining kilos and loosing a small amount of centimeters. Im not too happy with the amount of work im doing and the results.

Does anyone think a diet pill might help? If yes which type or brand?

No..

A diet pill will not help shit. You are seeing changes, based upon what you just said I am almost certain that you are gaining muscle. You are transforming your body from flabby to more muscular. Muscle weighs more than fat, so that explains the lack of acutal weight lost. Losing centimeters because muscle takes up less space than fat.

If you are looking to be smaller, as in losing both muscle and fat, avoid workouts in which you are using lots of muscles. Stick to running, biking, etc.

Alla diet pill will do is supress your appetite, but you are not eating too much. Realize however that you are making progress, and you are getting healthier.
