ahhrg, fuck that nirvana debate, hehe, ok for me nevermind kicks the others ass cause it was pop, grunge-pop, i love the beatles and they where psy-pop (psychedelic) and so was the first album from the doors, i like pop, its easy and catchy, nevermind was the best pop of the 90s for me , and none of the other band mention had that much pop sensibility, not saying its make them better, taste is relative anyway, but being able to make great pop is hard, doesn't mean they where trying to, but shit happen, ends up they where one of the most influential band of the 90s, cant denial that, it doesn't had to have better lyric or better musicianship, it only had to make you "there" and make you remember you where "there" or giving you a impression to what it was to be "there", pop has some kind of magic quality for that kind of thing, bla, bla, bla, end of rant
(my best album from the 90 was dummy and the bend, followed by nevermind and melon collie and the infinite sadness, and they where all influence by the context i was in at the time, pretending music can be heard out of context is dumbshit)
