Who's your favorite "Fucked Up", "Stoned Out" "Totally Wasted" songwriter?

Ever wondered what made Kurt end it?

Kurt Cobain probably.

I was just starting to aporeciate the Seattle scene when he died.:( :( :( We've debated and debated why he did it? He seemed to adore Francis Bean. A few of my buddies and I figure that he kept hitting H withdrawals, because Miss HOLE, kept stealing his smack. I think Courtney is far more fucked up than Kurt was. :(

I'm gonna have to go with the Garcia/Hunter songwriting duo, although I don't know how fucked up Robert Hunter was, but Garcia damn sure was using a lot. Fuck Jim Morrison, however, how that imbecile retains any credibility is beyond me.

he didn't do drugs....or drink.

In fact, Zappa was staunchly anti-drug and would kick anyone out of his band who was found to be using.

because he wrote some really good lyrics and had a really cool voice and was about the most charismatic frontman ever.

You mean he stole from lots of 19th century poets and made a drunken asshole of himself to the point where he couldn't perform a lot of the time.

How charismatic. 8(

strange, i've never heard of him ripping off other poets. so i did some research.

here's something i found about his poetry-

"Morrison’s poetic style is characterized by contrived ambiguity of meaning which serves to express subconscious thought and feeling—-a tendency now generally associated with the postmodern or avant garde. His poetic strength is that he creates poetry quite profound in its effect upon the reader, by using vividly evocative words and images in his poems. While it is obvious that Morrison has read writers that influence his work, and their influence remains strong in subject and tone, he still manages to make it his own in the way he adapts these influences to his style, experiences, and ideas. We would expect to find remnants of quotes, stolen lines and ideas, in a lesser writer, but Morrison shows his strength as a poet by resisting plagiarism in order to achieve originality in his own verse. As T. S. Eliot has said, “Bad poets borrow, good poets steal.” "

also just because he liked to drink doesn't mean he wasn't charismatic.

the ambiguity of the original post leaves the thread up to the same level of disclarity. i was not implying drug use in either. you cant deny that death has some really, really spaced-out trippy lyrics. i never once implied that either of those individuals did drugs (allthough nevermore is kind of obvious), or drank or anything of that matter. i know pleanty of people who dont do drugs or drink but are pretty "fucked up," whatever the hell that means.
