Also, many actors/musicians have to keep up their looks for their job. Like being good looking is part of their job. Their job is to entertain.

DJing/acting still has the stigma of a more exciting and glamorous life. I some business type people and whatnot who are good looking and also lead exciting lives as well. It isn't always true, but it's a stereotype.

Plus, I associate with business people when I'm at work. Which is not a sexy place. I'm not going to be like "oohh that guy in the office down the hall from me is soooo hot". Going out to a club and dancing? That is much more fun and sexy to me. Although I'm not actively looking for attractive people, I certainly notice them much more. Most of my entertainment involves clubbing.

I think the only reason so many people have that one actor they're always talking about or whatever is simply because they're persona we all know (pretty sure everyone watches films, we don't all keep up with the most recent scientific discovery or literary achievement) and a lot of them have to take particular care of their appearance for their job. So regardless of what they do, they're just often really hot.

True, and fair enough. See, the great thing about asking questions is that you get answers and learn stuff. (Like I did in this thread). Now that I think about it, it makes a lot of sense and seems to relate to my exp. (I.e. Ms.G finds surgeons and scientists hot too, cause she's in the sciences. Ditto a lot of my ex's who also tended to be in the sciences and find geeks hot. I suppose all of them, and Ms.G and a lot of other random chicks that hit on me in uniform happen to find operators hot.) I just never really had the chance to ask this kind of question to people outside of my circle (cause it's a weird question) and had sort of lumped "Arts/entertainment and celebrity" into one super-set and failed to distinguish the sub-sets of them and individual preferences for those subsets.

Agreed, I'm glad you brought it up actually. I'm used to doing the exact same thing as you and lumping all the musicians/actors into one category but your question got me thinking about it and looks like we've reached the same conclusion.

When people say they fatasize about a guitarist/musician, it's most likely the STEREOTYPE of that particular field. Personally, I find intelligence attractive, to an extent, unless a person is "too smart" to function in normal society. Generally this isn't that they're too smart, but have underlying social issues. i don't get the whole guitarists are sexy thing - i've played guitar 10 years and have only ever received compliments from other male guitarists lol. Really? I'm surprised to hear that. You'd get major brownie points amongst most of my friends & me if you said you were a guitarist in a band.
