Who is your "god"?

I don't think I'm in the future, I think I'm in the present. Given the fundamental inability, even in principle, for me to have a proper time (That is, with respect to my local reference frame and any co-moving frames) rate of more or less than 1 second per second, I would seriously have to be intellectually deficient to think I was in the future.

Isn't using generations (not a precise interval) from Jesus (both imprecise and extremely arbitrary) a pretty absurd to way to measure time?

I think something like the interval of hyperfine structure state transitions of an atom (extremely precise, arbitrary, but at least its precise and holds true anywhere in the universe at any time) or fractions of the interval of the Earth/Sun orbit (Not as precise..but still reasonably so, not too arbitrary in as far it's self evident to even the regular person) make a lot more sense.

Very true. But... If you believe it is the year 2013, then you yourself measure time by this standard...

You misunderstood the point of the post. My point was that most people believe discovery and adventure are DONE. They believe the only thing left to do is go to school to get a piece of paper, then get a job to get lots of paper. Then move to the suburbs and die.

That is "the future" that people believe we have reached.

like in India where it is the year 2069 - for some Christians it is not the same day of the week or time of the day as it is for us. i think we should be on a calendar in sequence with the moon, personally, it has a large effect on our bodies(due mostly to our water content) and psychological state, in varying but usually subtle ways.

Not quite, I am using an interval based around the orbital period of the Earth/Sun system, not "generations" which is an undefined period. I "believe" it's the year 2013 in as far is it's a common social convention that is useful me in day to day life, but the number itself has no intrinsic meaning to me any more than the at the time I pasted this it's 1358319461 in the Unix Epoch time.

That reminds me of something I read about when I was younger. Light Keepers, or Light Children or something. I forget what it was, but it was like talking about how there is only a small percentage of the world attempting to "keep the light" on our planet, while most people are moving towards the darkness.

I don't think you see it the same way I do though... I would agree that everything is connected, along the lines of; the many contains the one and the one contains the many, but in a purely physical sense i.e. we are all made up of atoms. However, labeling this relation as god, whether it was your intent or not, brings with it many associated characteristics that can, at the very least never be proven, and additionally that I believe are untrue. The main one being, implying an overall sentient nature to the universe as a whole. For me, the large amount of disorder/chaos in the universe as a whole compared to the relatively highly ordered state of an organism serves as adequate evidence against such notions. From that chaos we were thus created by randomness, for though our bodies are much more ordered than the universe as a whole, they are far from perfect. Lending to the idea that we were created out of chance without a purpose as opposed to being created out of requirement to serve a higher purpose(as you organism metaphor implies, though again I'm not sure that's what you meant exactly).

Our minds being the object of highest order(that we know of) within this chaos, it seeks to expand our connection to the whole so to better understand it and thus ourselves. For some this is science, for others it is spirituality, or some combination of the two. For me then, through the use of science and my limited free will, I have made myself my highest purpose, my god. Though, I believe a purpose above my own can be made through achieving a greater connection with the universe, it must be founded on the only connection that already exists(science), and in turn accepted as such by the current highest order(our selves) in order to function.

I think you believe that cells are more orderly than they are. Cells eat each other and get virus' that murder them, and all kinds of crazy stuff happens on the microscopic level. You can't say that the universe is chaotic but organisms are orderly. We exist solely because we destroy other organisms and our body burns it into energy. And let's not even get started on the human brain. That is chaos, organisms are not any less chaotic than the universe.

ohhh right, i have a copy of the Nag, and the Secret Books of the Egyptian Gnostics, which includes remnants translated from the Pistis Sophia, but mostly discussion about their origins, destruction, and explaining as sensibly as possible the concept of Sophia the Aeon.

Like I said, cells, and organisms in general, are far from a perfect example of order. However, COMPARED to the universe, they are RELATIVELY more ordered. I do not deny that there is chaos within the microscopic level but I would also say it's generally accepted that the human brain is the most complex and highly ordered system that we know of. It's all about relativity.
