Francis Crick - made important discovery about the double helix structure which has been credited at least in large part to LSD trips. I can't verify whether this is true or not, but if it is, it was a great scientific discovery that may have taken significantly longer to be made without that possible insight or coincidental vision.

I've always found Carl Sagan an inspirational figure from the TV-Series, but only now did I learn about his drug use and positions on drugs.

In honor of the fight next weekend

Nick Diaz

Interviewer: "So Nick, would you agree your marijuana smoking has got in the way of your fight career?"

Nick: "Actually, on the contrary, my fight career has gotten in the way of my marijuana smoking."

A Process in the Weather of the Heart

A process in the weather of the heart
Turns damp to dry; the golden shot
Storms in the freezing tomb.
A weather in the quarter of the veins
Turns night to day; blood in their suns
Lights up the living worm.

A process in the eye forwarns
The bones of blindness; and the womb
Drives in a death as life leaks out.

A darkness in the weather of the eye
Is half its light; the fathomed sea
Breaks on unangled land.
The seed that makes a forest of the loin
Forks half its fruit; and half drops down,
Slow in a sleeping wind.

A weather in the flesh and bone
Is damp and dry; the quick and dead
Move like two ghosts before the eye.

A process in the weather of the world
Turns ghost to ghost; each mothered child
Sits in their double shade.
A process blows the moon into the sun,
Pulls down the shabby curtains of the skin;
And the heart gives up its dead.

Let me run with you tonight
I’ll take you on a moonlight ride
There’s someone I used to see, but she don’t give a dam for me

But let me get to the point, let’s roll another joint
And turn the radio loud, I’m too along to be proud
You don’t know how it feels,
You don’t know how it feels, to be me

People come, people go
Some go young, some grow cold
I woke up in between, memory end of dream
So let’s get to the point, let’s roll another joint
And let’s head on down the road, there’s somewhere I’ve got to go

Fern Hill
by Dylan Thomas

Now as I was young and easy under the apple boughs
About the lilting house and happy as the grass was green,
The night above the dingle starry,
Time let me hail and climb
Golden in the heydays of his eyes,
And honoured among wagons I was prince of the apple towns
And once below a time I lordly had the trees and leaves
Trail with daisies and barley
Down the rivers of the windfall light.

And as I was green and carefree, famous among the barns
About the happy yard and singing as the farm was home,
In the sun that is young once only,
Time let me play and be
Golden in the mercy of his means,
And green and golden I was huntsman and herdsman, the calves
Sang to my horn, the foxes on the hills barked clear and cold,
And the sabbath rang slowly
In the pebbles of the holy streams.

All the sun long it was running, it was lovely, the hay
Fields high as the house, the tunes from the chimneys, it was air
And playing, lovely and watery
And fire green as grass.
And nightly under the simple stars
As I rode to sleep the owls were bearing the farm away,
All the moon long I heard, blessed among stables, the nightjars
Flying with the ricks, and the horses
Flashing into the dark.

And then to awake, and the farm, like a wanderer white
With the dew, come back, the cock on his shoulder: it was all
Shining, it was Adam and maiden,
The sky gathered again
And the sun grew round that very day.
So it must have been after the birth of the simple light
In the first, spinning place, the spellbound horses walking warm
Out of the whinnying green stable
On to the fields of praise.

And honoured among foxes and pheasants by the gay house
Under the new made clouds and happy as the heart was long,
In the sun born over and over,
I ran my heedless ways,
My wishes raced through the house high hay
And nothing I cared, at my sky blue trades, that time allows
In all his tuneful turning so few and such morning songs
Before the children green and golden
Follow him out of grace,

Nothing I cared, in the lamb white days, that time would take me
Up to the swallow thronged loft by the shadow of my hand,
In the moon that is always rising,
Nor that riding to sleep
I should hear him fly with the high fields
And wake to the farm forever fled from the childless land.
Oh as I was young and easy in the mercy of his means,
Time held me green and dying
Though I sang in my chains like the sea.

I love your essentially just talking to yourself in this thread... Hah.. and bumping your post count by like quintuple posting.

^^ Everyone's creations revolve unconsciously around themselves and their ideas. This thread is comprised of a couple concepts I have a passionate interest in, drugs, addiction, accomplishments of amazing people, and wisdom. My motivation for posting has nothing to do with post count or recognition, Its just not that important to me; My posts on this thread are drug users and addicts and wisdom, creations or accomplishments. I post them so that lurkers as well as BL can consider candidates for the overall question of the thread and may take away some of the wisdom that these people found. I also continue to post all these people because I am sick and tired of we as drug users/addicts being mistreated. It is my hope that I am able to show such a wide variety of amazing people who were addicts/users that I may be able to change that disgusting astigmatism placed on drug users and hopefully someday the disgusting way in which we are treated buy some will change. I also hope that people that view this thread that may be struggling with shame, guilt, or questions of self worth or doubt draw comfort and confidence from it. By having so many different drug users represented with so many different drugs represented this thread gives a pretty clear picture to possible real life consequences associated with different drugs. For example the the people represented that used hallucinogens and grass seem to, as an average of the group, have had longer lives with allot less hardship. This thread also gives a pretty clear picture of possible outcome when one find themselves faced with an addiction to a drug that has the power to kill you.. Death or recovery being two. This thread also demonstrates that common themes in drug rehabilitation are not rite. For instance Oliver Stone and Drew Barrymore, two individual represented that had indisputable cocaine addictions, can and are able to smoke pot without it dragging them back to cocaine. I also enjoy posting a couple of new drug users per day because I learn their story and browse their wisdom. I'm sorry if anybody lets this thread and my unorthodox posting style on it irritate them. I hope this clears up my motivation and goals surrounding this thread and my actions, and I am going to continue my work with this and look forward to, as always, anybody else's posts.

One advantage of talking to yourself is that you know at least somebody's listening.
