Who else is Tea Total ?

Stopped smoking heroin and quit my script CT, within weeks I was drinking 3 bottles of wine a day and lagers on top. Then realised this was fucking nasty for my health and wallet, and work were questioning my breath as well.

So I grew up a bit noticing where this behaviour was heading...but not totally as you know! Now I get drunk once a week (and this part is important I feel: it's socially, like quite a few 30 year olds I would imagine). I couldn't imagine not having one vice in my life...

Brimz, drinking on heroin is pointless anyway, it just sits in your stomach sloshing about, but it's great that you knocked it on the head.

No, because it wouldn't be so available/acceptable and it wouldn't come in a variety of tasty flavours.

There would be plenty of Walter Whites out there because the equipment you need is cheap and its easy to brew tasty alcoholic ginger beer or cider.

Xmas pudding with regular custard would be rubbish.

I used to drink quite a bit but a few months ago i just stopped n i can't even imagine me drinking booze EVER .

Can't even stand the smell .

So any1 else ?

You have enough gaba drugs in your system 24/7 to justify not drinking. =D

Im not one of these OCD people that can force 2 pints off water down them after a drinking session and then wake up the next day all fine and dandy.

OCD? ocd has nothing to do with it. its called common sense

booze is alright, can handle it, its more of an uplifting anti anxiety tool for me now. havent been properly messy drunk for a long time. euphoric stims are nicer with booze before, booze and valium mix well

Im tea total atm so i can get off valium , but i spent a month on co op dry cider, valium, weed and codiene then realized i was physically addicted to the valium. currently just smoking weed and doing my taper

Alcohol has never appealed to me as much as weed has. I dont really get any euphoria off alcohol unless its mixed with other drugs. Alcohol just essentially makes you a reactionary moron

Nothing beats a good old Sailor Jerry's or any spiced rum for that matter. I tend not to overindulge if possible but i find if i've popped a few benzo's the urge to have a drink increases. Lovely mix if you don't overdo it.

I dint make my point well again. I knew a guy who before he went out for the night would have two pint glasses of water ready and waiting for him by his bed for when he got back home shit faced. Its debatable whether you wanna call that common sense or OCD, but i know what you mean. It is common sense to drink as much water as possible to make up for the dehydration, there is no question aboout that, i was just thinking about that guy when i made that comment. Who cares right ? But well yeah, anyway.

Not at all, you've got me all wrong there. I'm just saying that if you had no access to the huge amount of gaba drugs you're prescribed, you may find a place for alcohol.

I don't wish any ill on anyone, least of all you. <3

do you think alcohol would be popular if it had been discovered later and made illegal like other drugs? Interesting question.

Alcohol is illegal in some countries right now and was made illegal in the US for a period. It remained popular in the US while illegal, and people died due to prohibition, a bit like other drugs.

Booze is pretty popular even in Muslim countries, there are "devout" muslims who like a drink.I know at least three Muslims in the UK who drink, and I've been told some stories about moonshine being distilled in Pakistan, by muslims. I don't think it's endemic but it's certainly a thing.

I think GBL a useful comparison, though. If people had a choice between GBL or ethanol, I reckon most would go with GBL! But most people aren't aware of GBL so they don't have that choice. Perhaps if other drugs were available to the same extent as booze during US prohibition, it would have fallen out of favour.

I used to be a very regular drinker, although not really a "drunk" for a long time, and I still think it has its place, but since I discovered GBL I've hardly drunk any alcohol at all, it's seriously turned my habits round.

Ok

It wasn't long ago i used to do even more Benzo's & drink heavily as well

I don't drink alcohol anymore. Prior to having kids I was properly pissed every weekend for a decade. Now I prefer other things.

Never drank tea in my life.

Seriously I don't think I have. Tried it once tasted vile. Didn't drink coffee till 1 month ago and now quite enjoy it.

Anyway seriously...no I'm not tea total. Drink too much but considering seriously giving up booze.

Even when I'm hungover to shite I never say "I'm not drinking again" or considering giving up booze but on Thursday there after about 3 weeks of constant boozing (and a few beer for breakfast days) I had a cunt of a hangover and genuinely though maybe it's time for a break / to quit.

I already made plans to go to a beer festival this weekend so will see that out and no doubt be like death on Sunday so maybe I'll just pack the boozing in for a while?

I does me no favours. I did some shameful shit last week whilst pissed apparently but remember none of it. I've never acted like that before when pissed as far as I know and hopefully never will again.

I can't handle hangovers anymore. It's not just wake up and feel shit for a bit it's 2 days of full blown anxiety, feeling like death, headaches, sickness, near tripping out etc.

The valium I have are either dud or just don't work for me anymore so they don't even ease the pain. :(

I'm not a fan of getting super-blackout drunk, stumbling all over the place, seems kind of pointless.

I usually stick to beer, if drunk at a moderate pace its not really possibly to get completely out of it. Feel nice, talkative, inhibitions lowered, but still fully in control, much better.

Proper real ale gives minimal hangover and no sickness whatsoever as well, its all I ever drink given the choice. Also prefer copious amounts of weed alongside, its like bread and butter.

Having a strong Latte before going out is something I've started doing as well, the milk apparently reduces negative effects of alcohol and strong caffeine kick makes everything better too.

Trust me it's very possible to get completely out of it on beer even when drinking slowly. I usually drink just beer all night and I cannot drink quick but can still end up blackout drunk and not remember things.

It's taken me 5hrs tonight to drink 2 pint bottles of beer. I will remember everything tomorrow for sure but if I kept drinking who knows what state I'd end up in.

My drinking sessions tend to last for 12-18hrs though atm stupidly.

Don't know when enough is enough and there's always a bar or club in BKK still open.

Can't see how drinking a coffee before going out can have any real affect but will try it tomorrow for good measure.

I now hate being drunk and the subsequent hangover that follows as it means sleeping late, my routine getting messed up and no or little work being done. Very annoying.

12-18 hours sounds like a killer, I bet the beer is so cheap over there too which is probably part of the problem there I imagine.

Its more the milk than the coffee I think, I've read in numerous places that it lines the stomach and helps the absorption of alcohol, which reduces many of the negative side effects. Definitely noticed the difference. I'm a fiend for caffeine so a latte is perfect. People look at me strangely when I go into starbucks on the way into london at 8pm hah

Sure drinking milk before going out is an old wives tale.

Beer is fairly cheap here but I don't think it would make too much difference anyway.

I'm not thinking of the cost when drinking just thinking about "one more beer".

I only go home when I cannot keep my eyes open any more and fear falling asleep in the street / at the bar then usually do on the skytrain.
