Who are your harm reduction Roll Models?

Lorin (Bassnectar) is a prime example of a DJ doing all that he can to keep his fans safe at his shows. He hires crews of people (the amBASSadors) to go around making sure every one is okay handing out water, etc. What a good guy.

There seriously needs to be more acceptance and education. Accept the fact that people will do drugs regardless of what someone tells them. Allow organizations like dancesafe to conduct pill testing at events, provide free water points where people can cool down, etc. It's common sense really, don't scorn people educate them.

There definitely should be free water stations at every event but while on site pill testing would be great for harm reduction, its way too liberal for people to let fly, at least in the US. Something responsible is pass around brochures or something that, that educate people about pill reports and testing kits because it is ridiculous the amount of people that dont know these things exist. It should probably tell people to never eat cutouts lol

Staying hydrated is important but...
If someone is having an acute reaction to MDMA water is best used externally.
Aggressive cooling measures are always called for.
That means removing clothing and applying cold water repeatedly.
This is always the first treatment in the ER, along with a cold saline IV.

For drinking, only electrolytes should be used.
The extra salt helps the kidneys remove excess water from the bloodstream.
This eliminates one of the most common causes of death from MDMA - hyponatremia.
However, rapid intake of salt is NOT recommended. It can cause infarction in the brainstem!

It was very hot in Texas recently, so hopefully the ACs were running hard.
I have heard a lot about the presence of pipes and other adulterants, so we may not know what killed this guy until the toxicology report comes out.

Death from MDMA is very rare, but when it happens it is a particularly horrible death.
There are plenty of less severe consequences to this drug, so harm reduction should not be designed simply to prevent the rare incidence of death.

Oh it was like 104-105 and humid when we got there. I was immediately sweating a storm upon entering the venue. Anyone who wore a t-shirt and jeans was bound to get drenched in their own sweat.

Super cool! I didnt have any idea....Ive only seen him twice.

Seen Bassnectar 3? times now I think... Awesome show, awesome person.

Anyways, shame on people today man. Kids will ingest anything it being meth, pipes, or whatever else junk people put in pills recently. I'd say the last 20 shows I've been to I've rolled one time, and probably had the least fun at the show I was rolling. (Which is the reason I'm stopping). Seems a lot of kids are under the impression that they can't have fun or enjoy the music if they're not on some sort of chemical... I hate these types of people more than anything, and I hope they get sick of the EDM scene ASAP. It's horrible that this kid died, but people are just plain stupid and if this event was 16+ we would most likely be hearing of some 16-17 year olds dead as well. Sad, but true.
