Who are you voting for in the coming election?

Thank gawd Mr E......I was waitin for sumbody else to post first, cos I wasn't game enuff to be the first one to say I'm votin Liberal....from the looks of this thread, we're probably gonna be the first BL Stoning victims *LOL*

I'll be voting the Greens..Before this planet is totally fucked by pollution and big nasty corporates..
But I have to say that the Libs have done a good job of managing the economy...Thus far..
Hey what about the Beer Drinkers Party..Maybe they should be running the country....Mmmmmmmm Beeeerrrrrr
BCR

ok... most people will disagree with me here, but i do vote liberal for the house of reps. the only reason that i do so, well there are others, but the reason is:
if you have a strong economy, and you aren't being hassled by exorbitant debt, you can do more good. granted the libs haven't done that much with what they have at the moment, but with the way that the economy is going, australia will be a much better place fairly soon.
and i can't see the labor government being able to keep up the rate of growth that our economy is showing. i know fuck all about economics, but i do know that if you have more, and owe less, then there is much more you can do. it does mean waiting for some things, but it is better to wait a bit longer now and reap more benefits later.
the way i see it, labor will spend everything we have and more and then not be able to handle the situation when a new recession period comes along.
that said, i will still be voting democrats in the senate. balance is key.

It's really fucked when all you want to do is sit on any old park bench in any old city, wop out a joint and a couple of mushrooms and enjoy yourself. Im voting Green, cause as someone mentioned before and i very much agree with 'this planet is fucked'. And its all thanks to us.
Did you know that in 5-10 years there will be no wildlife bigger than a cattle dog living in Africa OUTSIDE the national parks? Those poor Africans have to eat something. Makes your blood boil, doesnt it?

You can kick the monkey all you want...but what do you do when he wakes up?

Prometheus - that gut feeling about Natasha is a bit spooky....I have the (unfortunate) pleasure of knowing her cousin and uncle and they are some of the most crooked people you will ever meet - I have personally witnessed the lengths they'll go to to fuck someone over - and maybe I'm just paranoid, but she gives off that same vibe - it's all in their eyes I tellz ya...
That said - I'm still yet to register to vote - I don't feel I have a big enough political view to formulate a strong opinion that is worthy of a vote..although I'm getting right into this Tampa saga, so who knows, maybe I'll be registering sooner than I think!

did anyone see the media watch story on tash? really interesting, talked about how she used her image (as a young honey - i'd go er!) to gain popularity (going on GNW etc) and eventually the leadership, and then had to distance herself from this image to become a serious politician.
dodgy i tells ya, but i guess she is a politician. she does go out with hugh rimington though (channel 9 geek), which is 100% dodgy.
i'd also like to say that labor did a lot of the groundwork towards our current economic prosperity, and were on their way to implementing many of the changes the libs have done. wheres your social concience people?

you say that the libs have brought us economic stabilty...
yet they are proposing massive income tax cuts: where do they find they money for this? by draining it off education and healthcare.

I find it appalling that I may have to vote for One Nation, because, even tho Pauline Hanson is the stupidest creature on two legs, it IS recognised as a protest vote.
That said, regarding the elections, I can barely contain my apathy.

The Greens have used one of the last by-elections to send a message to Labour that they cannot be taken for granted, especially in marginal seats. So a vote for them will count.
The Dems really caved on the GST, and a lot of people haven't forgiven them. (Including me. $20 for a frikkin' book...#$@#$%@#%#$).
Labour is so afraid to be identified as other than the Liberal party in anything but name and history it's just sad. But...
...little Johhny Howard is an evil prick. With an accountants grey heart and the surety that his nuclear-family-white-christian-pseudo-fifties-bearing-the-white-mans-burden moralism is the way God intended it to be before us drug takin' dancing multi hued and gendered unAustralians fucked it all right up.
Whatever little Johnny does to the people of this country, he's immovably convinced it's for our own good. And i find that to be the a very scarey thing.
However i vote will be for the best way to get rid of him.

Labour is in opposition at the moment.
I think the populous will be generally and pleasently surpised if Kim becomes the next PM. IMOHO he will be a lot better leader of government than leader of the opposition.
...and just a reminder for those saying 'government isn't representing my views' - just remember the government is meant to be representative of the people but additionally provide leadership where it is needed. There are a lot of people out there with a lot more knowledge and experience in how the world really works than us lot.
As for me. Labour - as always.

werd soma...
beazley is in opposition so its his job to object to everything howard says even though it may be partly right. this is one thing i fucking hate about politics. labor would have resorted to a gst eventually (keating had it as a backup plan) but youll never get them to admit to it now.
the libs have done some neccessary evils but have given the benefits to their mates in big business rather than the wider community. labor will continue along this path except with a more socially concious view, and beazley wont let his personal feelings on stuff like heroin trials and reconciliation get in the way of the communities wishes. like little johnny did... prick...
long story short: vote labor!

gonna have to go with liberal I'm afraid boys and girls... us fat cats stick together, or something like that.
Labour have proven their incompetance in the past and Kym Beazley doesn't impress me at all.
Until there is a Letssmokeup party I'm sticking with Mr Howard.

All politicans are greasey, sly and slimey. They all cheat and lie to get votes. Make promises and policies which they can't keep. Blahhhhh... they make me shudder. I think one thing you'll never be likely to come across is an honest politican that actually gives a shit about anyone but themselves. In fact, they epitomise that dirty crud that squirts out of a takeaway doner kebab when you squeeze it. Grubby bastards!

In the pass few years with the east timor situation and most lately with the boat off christmas island, I've found that politicians are more often interested in currying the favour of the nation through token actions rather than any real contribution. Unless the minority is big enough, nothing is done...so I can't see us smoking dope legally anytime soon unless we get alot of kids hooked young

John howard took a big gamble by not accepting those refugees but it's probably going to pay off imo

oh, go the donkey vote

Well I better put up my two cents...
I won't be putting either of major parties first on my ballot paper because they are both too commited to a global economy, but they aren't committed to looking after things like health care, education and social security here at home. Things that will entice people into spending more and keeping our economy afloat. It's called a demand-side economy kids...
grug

someone said something about the Labour Party fucking up the economy repeatedly. i think that's a bit ill-informed, given that the Hawke/Keating years 1983-95? included one of the biggest economic boom periods in memory, the 1980's. i think it's a bit unfair to label the ALP as a bunch of economic terrorists on the basis of the recession of the early 90's, which was probably caused by external factors anyway (i'm not an economist - i don't know for sure).
Besides, i'd rather live in a country where the government has a social conscience, spends money on services for the community, looks after the people who can't look after themselves, isn't afraid to address the issues, and is relevant to the present era.
hence, i refuse to vote liberal. most of their "budget surplus" gains have just been from rigging the numbers here, and slashing funding there... it doesn't really represent sound government. beazley may be fat, but he'll better represent me than johnny ever could.

Im with MAD MONKEY.
greens.
Politics.... they r all crooks and lie through they butts anyway...SO.
Does it really matter?

Voting... i should really do that this time... =P
According to my older brother there's a great party he seems to vote for all the time entitled "The Marijuana Smokers Party".
Shit it must be easy to start up a political party!
