Whitney Houston dead at 48

Dolly's version is quite touching after you've had 3 or 4 hits of strong blotter.

fair play, whatever floats ya boat

Looks at cherry guiltily :|

If you'd read my first post, you'd have seen I paid her some respect.

Houston, she had a problem.

Only 48 , I thought she was older than that. Poor woman, suffered too much shit from her wife beating husband, though there are reports that she did give him a kicking back! She stood up to him. Too right. ': 'He Spit on Me' ... "I took the phone and I hit him over the head with it," She did say that Bobby was 'her drug' though. Often the case with violent relationships, love takes over.

I loved Whitney when I was as teen, when the bodyguard came out when I was at school.

It's not right but it's okay, i'm gonna make it any way, back your bag, don't leave your key, i'd rather be alone than uphappy.

That song was my anthem when I got out of my violent relationship. She should have taken her own advice, and not let her husband and the crack break her down. I can understand the desire for escape from mental abuse when it comes to using crack and smack. My habit began after coming out of women's refuges.

Celebrity doesn't fall into the same category anyway IMO, they live and die by publicity, thats not them its a persona which isn't the real person, so taking the piss isn't off limits as far as I'm concerned.

It kinda goes without saying that the loss of anyone brings sadness to the people that loved them, but there's nowt wrong with a bit of traditional sick British humour, shoot me down for it of you like but I bet the text jokes have been doing the rounds it comes with the territory

Though I was nothing like a big fan of hers, I'm always touched when I hear of someone dying from drugs. It's like one more has lost the battle. Many of us are lucky to still be here.

ahhh i dunno what all the fuss is about TBH! i hated her music i dont think she was anything out the ordinary, her voice was like fingers nails on a chalk board! so suck sh!t Whitney! there! iv said it! god iv wanted to get that odd my chest for ages! when someone decent like Santana dies then ill pay respect!

Carlos Santana won't ever die. Don't be silly.

Everybody knew she'd been in a bad way but I don't think many people saw it coming did they? It's difficult to remember just how huge a name she was through the eighties and nineties, because I think the scale of her success more or less ate her up. Though her marriage can't have helped.

It's easy to dwell on her torturing every syllable (and let's face it, torturing her own meta-syllables) on I Will Always Love You, which was not helped by overexposure, but she genuinely did have a rich and powerful voice and it's a shame that she never got the chance to let it develop further because of her problems and eventually this.

Showbusiness eh? Who's up for it?

i think having lots of money and free time is a dangerous combo! i should be fine tho anyway! :D

Too right, I've said it on here before and I'm going to say it again, when I've been on a bender, its always Monday morning looming large on the horizon that puts a stop to some of my bigger sessions, take that away and throw potential unlimited funds into the mix, and it's so easy to see why these people get into so much shit, I'm surprised some of them make it to 48, I'm positive I wouldn't last more than a couple of years carrying on like that.

She wasn't my bag, but did some good pop tunes in the 80's and 90's, not so keen on all the ballad shite, but you can't deny she had an amazing voice, and went on to influence a lot of other artists

Even though I hate everything when it comes to her "music" I still feel that she:
1. Had a fan-fuckin-tastic singing voice.
2. Was afflicted by drug addiction.
3. Had a scummy and abusive "husband"
4. Likely had a lot to offer if her voice / talent were projected with artists who had integrity.

Anyhoo, yea...
