Does this really come as a surprise to you all? Heh, she's infamous for her blow habit. I myself cannot wish for anyone to crash and burn with drugs so I hope she turns out alright. Oddly enough, media attention is a good thing in cases like these.

WHITNEY HOUSTON's sister-in-law has hit back at criticism she sold photos of the singer's 'drug den' to a US tabloid to make money, insisting she did it to help the fallen pop star.

BOBBY BROWN's sister TINA exposed the extent of Houston's drug problems with a tell-all article in the National Enquirer last year (05) after warning the singer she would go public with her junkie hell if she didn't clean up. Brown insists she didn't speak to the tabloid and hand over photos she took of Houston's squalid drugs den out of malice or to make money - it was all about love.

Speaking to urban publication Sister 2 Sister, the former model explains she had to do something drastic because she feared Houston would wind up dead if she didn't give up drugs.

Brown says, "Every time I got called (by Houston) I was scared I was gonna walk in there and she was gonna be dead. "I told her, 'The next time I come in here... and the situation is the same, I'm snapping pictures and I'm gonna do what I gotta do. Maybe if you see yourself in black and white... Maybe you need a jarring experience to wake you up out of this.'

"I had several motives behind what I did. One was because I loved her and I was tired of seeing her like that."

Houston's sister-in-law admits the singer's drug use got so bad last summer (05) it prompted her to get sober after years of substance abuse, and her tabloid tell-all has brought her and the pop star closer together than ever. Brown adds, "She called me and she was like, 'You did it...' We started talking and she started crying and was like, 'Why did you do it?' "I was like, 'Nip (Houston's nickname), it's gonna help you, man. When you see it, read it. Read what you do.'"

Brown uses the interview with Sister 2 Sister publisher JAMIE FOSTER BROWN to dismiss reports she was paid $200,000 (GBP112,000) for taking her story to the Enquirer: "I'm broke now, so it couldn't have been that much money."

I know Whitney... well not like we're friends or anything, but I've worked with her in the past, when she and Bobby came to a recording studio I was working at, and yes, this was during the height of all the "Whitney's a crackhead" stories that were surfacing...

That being said, while I don't know whether or not she does indulge in cocaine of any form, she certainly is NOT the monster being portrayed in these ridiculous sensationalistic stories. She certainly likes to party, but so do each of you motherfuckers reading this thread! A couple people were able to take pictures of her looking pretty ate-up at times, and now people think that's the way she always looks.

Of all the rock stars and celebrities I've ever worked with, Whitney was one of the nicest, sweetest, most down-to-earth of them. She is very beautiful, and she still cuts her vocal tracks all in one take. She's a pro.

Bobby, on the other hand, is one ate-up motherfucker, and I don't see why Whitney is still with him. I was told by one of her relatives (hers, not Bobby's) that she is old-fashioned and believes in sticking things out, especially because she shares a child with him. I definitely did NOT like hanging with Bobby, because all of his conversations are about how he's been to this jail, and how he's been to that jail, and "they ain't never gonna take me back there without a fight" and so on. 8)

Meanwhile, Whitney and her daughter Bobbi would be out in the parking lot doing cartwheels and just being silly. She was lovely in so many ways, even though when she doesn't wear makeup she *does* kind of look like some of those sensationalistic photos of her. But so fucking what?! Why should she have to go around looking like a deva all the time?

I'm just saying don't necessarily believe everything you read, people. One thing I learned during the time I knew them was that there is a very serious conflict between the Houstons and the Browns. The photo mentioned in this thread was taken by a Brown. I'm not going to draw conclusions, but I will say that there could very well be some financial issues here. It was well known around the studio that Whitney was the one who was recording an album, and that Bobby was just sort of hanging out, "producing" some demos for his nephew and friends in Studio C. Whitney was in Studio A.

I think she's the breadwinner of the family.

If you don't know people, you should try not to talk shit about them. But that's just my opinion, though.

LOLOLOLROFL. Do tell more about hanging out with these 2 crackheads. I see that you are defending them, but Im sure they must do even crazier cracked out things then they do on their desperate money grab show on VH-1.
 
The silver lining to this "cloud" is that the public is spared any more of her third-rate and out-of-tune "singing".....=D

Fucking hell an 1/8th in one blunt, jesus christ. I don't know what to say. Poor woman. Smoking a couple of grams a day will fuck you up let alone 3.5 a pop.
 
In July one of these papers ran an article about how Whitney was off 'the pipe' and looking good.

It's all about the money - true or not.

(on a side note, all i can think of now when i see/hear her name is the clip on Talk Soup taken from her reality show where she screams, "Kiss my ass!")

i am from atlanta, and have a few friends who have had run ins with them, and taking those anecdotes, and the damn awful show she and her man did, it is really hard to have any respect for her. she used to be so damn talented too. but the beauty seems to be gone. hope she beats any addiction she has.

as disgusting as she seems on her show, i don't wish her or any addict ill will.

You serious? I'm rather impartial to Whitney and her music, but shit, she has(had?) a voice. I love people that will just diss ANY singer no matter their musical or vocal talent when they probably have only heard a few songs.
 
Of all the singers I've ever met and worked with, people from Elton John to Peter Frampton to the Indigo Girls, Whitney had the best voice EVER. She is a true one-take-wonder, which not many other vocalists can say about themselves. She has a beautiful voice that just comes out perfectly, each and every time she opens up her mouth. I don't much care for her songs, but I give credit where credit is due.
 
Naah...I don't need to diss singers, etc. because of some void in my life...

I just think that people are enamored with the timbre of her voice, i.e., she's been genetically endowed with a good sounding instrument and has learned to manipulate it in a fashion...she has some bells and whistles that she has used repeatedly on everything she's ever done since she knows that people will "ooh" and "aah" because the instant gratification factor is high and they will never listen too deep into the pap she has released.

Examples:
"The Greatest Love of All" is admittedly horrible song, but she doesn't even give it a good reading because she doesn't know how...

"Saving All My Love For You" she can't get the pitch right until she hits the word "you," and then only because she uses her breaking-into-falsetto trick. Why do you think they call it "false-etto"?

I won't knock someone I think is really good, I just always felt that she was vastly overrated.

And hey Church, is that Terence McKenna's eyeball you've got in your mouth?
 
I remember Whitney fighting with Wendy William's on her radio station. Whitney said something like "I don't do crack. Crack is cheap. I'm a high class girl, I like expensive stuff". I guess now she doesn't like the coke, so she's gotta cook it up!
