White milky layer, not clear layer during DXM extract?

I decided to do my first dmt extract from Equate Tussin DM, active ingredients read as follows:

(in each 5ml tsp)
Dextromethorphan HBr, USP 10mg
Guaifenesin, USP 100 mg

I used the simplified acid/base extract technique, using:

100ml of Tussin DM
100ml of Ammonia
20ml of Naptha.

While pouring tussin dm, then ammonia then shaking, then pouring naptha then shaking again, I got a lot of bubbly foam which settled down after a couple of minutes. The technique says the colored dm, and ammonia would remain at the bottom, and naptha layer with dxm extract would remain at the top in a "clear" layer separated from the ammonia by the naptha. The layer isn't clear though, it's a milky white color, with the same visual ml of the naptha poured in the beginning.

What I want to know is if that milky white layer is normal or the "clear" layer talked about in the simplified acid/base tek for dxm before pouring into a ziplock to drain? Do I need more of an ingredient to shake again? Did I mess up a step? Am I on the right path?

Picture included, milky substance when drained still smells like ammonia. The top part are just foam/bubbles coming down. Middle layer is milky substance. Bottom is tussin/ammonia.

Edit: Edited references. Wasn't sure of the format around here, only from like threads from 2008 lol.

Using SWIM or talking in third person doesn't protect you in any way and makes your posts hard to read. As such we don't allow it on Bluelight. Please edit your post. A simple "I" suffices ;)

As for your question, we have a DXM extraction thread which this'll be merged with once you've had the chance to reply. I'll leave it up to some members more experienced with this extraction to help you though since it's certainly not my field of expertise.

why are you doing the extraction in a polycarbonate pop/water bottle? that white shit is probably dissolved plastic

either that or there's not ennough naptha to dissolve the dxm and it's simply suspended there,
or you're also extracting fillers and shit that impart a white pigment

if you're just going to back extract the naptha into an acidic water solution (a la agent lemon), it should be fine as long as the water is clear at the end.... if its cloudy its a no go and you should try the extraction again

this time use HDPE or glass
