White Heroin Still Being Sold As Cocaine in Amsterdam

Dutch authorities have warned that white heroin is still being mis-sold as cocaine on the streets of Amsterdam.

On February 27, the Amsterdam Public Health Service circulated the announcement (see below) following three Danish tourists being taken ill after snorting white heroin, believing it to be cocaine.

This alert comes just over three months after three British men died from unknowingly taking heroin in the Dutch capital, something which prompted a major public awareness campaign by the city.

As the Associated Press reports, the reignition of the campaign will target tourist hot spots and see large illuminated signs used, along with flyers distributed in bars, cafes, and hotels.

I can't really see how that would be profitable and cocaine is probably the easiest thing to identify...but I guess it could happen.

Yea its weird, on smell alone they are worlds apart, even cut to shit coke still has that smell that kinda makesy stomach turn. And dope usually has that vinegarish smell...love that smell haha..

Also dope costs so much more than coke, someone is losing out on some serious money.

So if you have a kit to test it and its determined to be heroin, it would be a great deal. If they really want to change the problem hand out free marquis testing kits teach people how to tell the difference educate them on the price of both and release them. I am sure that the dealers would run out and lose money pretty quickly.

That is just how i think it would be solved. If they want more police and the slogan "ignore the dealers" i am sure they know better then i do.

Maybe in the US, but in Europe any coke is being shipped in all the way from South America via. West Africa, where heroin just has to do the land trip from the Middle East.

It's also a question of demand. I'd imagine there are a lot of tourists in Amsterdam on a night out who'd be either seeking out, or amenable to the idea of, a bit of coke. How many people snort heroin while dancing in clubs or going to a red light district?

WHat I don't understand is why they even bother putting heroin in it at all, instead of just selling baggies of inert powder or cheap stimulant RC's. It's not like they're looking for return business.

That's what I don't get. They smell and taste completely different. Also dope doesn't numb your tongue or lips like coke does. Maybe the type of heroin is slightly different over there, but when you chop up a line they have different consistencies. Even if I had no sense of smell or taste, I could tell coke from dope by breaking out a line.

I thought this sort of thing only happened to Uma Thurman in Pulp Fiction.

Even if you've never done it I would think you would know that coke should numb your tongue or your lips.

I don't know why anyone would try a drug that they don't know well enough to even recognize when they're in a foreign country and buying from total strangers.

For not knowing what they're ingesting they're taking way too big of lines if they're doing enough to get sick. I know a non-tolerant person would only need a very small amount of heroin to get sick where they'll puke, but if it was good cocaine then they shouldn't need more than a bump that could fit on the end of a regular house key. So either way they're doing too much to start, especially if they've never done it.

That is pretty true∆ seems like many ppl when trying a drug for the first time are likely to try and imitate what they have seen in movies or on TV....which as we all know is always factually correct lol

Friends died ‘after mistaking white heroin for cocaine while on holiday in Amsterdam’

TWO UK men died in Amsterdam after taking white heroin they thought was cocaine, an inquest has heard.

Best friends Shaun Brotherston, 21, and Bradley Price, 20, were found dead in a hotel room next to a tray covered in white powder.
They were found in a ‘non-responsive’ state, one of them slumped on a bed with blood stains coming from his nose, the other collapsed on a desk.

Toxicology reports showed that their blood had traces of opiates, and it is believed they bought the white heroin believing it was cocaine.
Brotherston and Price, both from Devon, were former students at Tamarside Community College, now the Marine Academy, in Plymouth.

They had travelled to Amsterdam to celebrate Brotherston’s 21st Birthday, and were last seen alive on November 22 on hotel CCTV.
They were discovered deceased in their hotel room by the housekeeping staff, surrounded by drug paraphernalia and bottles of alcohol.
Dutch police were immediately called to the Apollo Museum Hotel.

On arrival they were greeted by hotel staff, who told them of two hotel guests who were found in an ‘unresponsive state’.
On entering the room they were hit by a foul smell, and found the two friends inside.

One had collapsed on the bed, and was lying motionless in an unnatural position, with blood stains over his face.
The other was found slumped on the desk, with a face red and purple in colour.

Weird , drug tourists die every year in amsterdam though usually they jump out of windows or bridges after taking mushrooms or stroke from fake ecstacy.
