Bluelighter
I don't know what it is lately, but all my thoughts seem to be coming out in rhymes ... corny, I know, but I can't stop!!!
While you dream
The sheets shroud your subtle lines,
As the mist blankets a bleached-out sky.
A cascade of silk ripples down your leg,
And kisses the contours of your thigh.
Your chest, heavy with slumber,
Rhythmically swells and falls,
As your fingertips slide lightly
Over the cracks in the bare white walls.
The cold breath of the winter morning
Unfurls the yawning drapes.
Your moistened lips part slightly
And a sleepy sigh escapes.
A wisp of hair swings and dances
Over the faint furrows of your brow,
Putting on a show as if it knows
That I’m watching you right now.
The light from the window shifts slowly.
Shadows swirl across your face.
And you wrap your arms tighter,
Around the pillow you embrace.
You have no idea that I’ve seen you like this
That I’ve studied you night after night,
Torturing myself with a feverish frenzy
Of desperation, desire and delight.
My eyes canvass your body
My mind paints fantasies unbound.
But never can I touch you.
And I dare not make a sound.
Daylight is creeping to the horizon.
Soon you will stir and wake.
I allow myself just one more glance.
I soak in all I can take.
Then I shut my eyes and turn away,
Try to pry myself from the grip of your spell,
Try to forget why I burn for you so badly,
Try to break out of my self-made hell
But even as the veil of sleep begins to fall,
These images seep through.
And I can’t remember the last time
That I didn’t dream of you.
