When I was a kid, I slept on the top bunk and didn't have a barrier (my sister slept on the bottom), and one night I rolled off the bed in my sleep and landed face first on a sharp edge. 6 stitches to the face, literally ripped a hole from my nose to my lip, there was a lot of blood. Not much fun at the age of 10, but now I have to sleep up against the wall. So my girlfriend sleeps wherever, she doesn't mind, but I have to be up against a wall or else I have nightmares of falling haha. My bed at home I've laid the mattress in the middle of the bed frame with the slats removed, so I have a wall at all four corners. Best bed ever!
 
^Hah that's happened to me as well. I fell off the top bunk and broke my wrist when I was about the same age. Why they actually make bunk beds without a protective barrier on the top bunk is beyond me :\
 
you people who can't stay on a bunk bed wouldn't last in jail/prison :P. steel bunk, paper thin sleeping mat, concrete floor.
 
Prison is where the animals go to get the gay! ;) on the downlow of course.

I sleep on my left side more often than not. In both my male and female long term live in relationships I chose the left to occupy.
 
I sleep on the right, my boyfriend on the left. I need to sleep facing away from my boyfriend because for some reason I can't sleep when I'm afraid I'm breathing on his face, but I can't sleep on my right ear because I have a piercing that gets sore if I do. So I lie on my left side on the right side of the bed.

My mom sleeps on the left side of the bed, and my dad on the right.
 
I sleep on the right (looking from the foot of the bed), but not when I'm in my parents' house (then I sleep on the left), and this regardless of the presence of another living being sharing the bed with me. Anyway If I'm not cuddling I sleep face down and with my arms under the pillow, so the sde doesn't really change anything.
 
When looking at the bed from the foot of it, i sleep on the right and my girl sleeps on the left. I sleep on the wall side and my girl sleeps next to the night stand, mostly because she can never wake up in the morning even if her phone alarm is like two inches from her face
 
no matter where we are; if our room is re-modeled or were on vacation. my partner (male) automatically sleeps on the left side of the bed, and me on the right. its an unspoken auto response and where we are most comfortable.

It depends on the room.
Funny that the poll so far shows males split evenly between left and right and the majority of the females tend to go for the right. You'd think that if the men were 50/50 the women would be too.
 
all sides everywhere. the luxuries of being single...

if someone's with me, i'll usually take the left side.
 
Whatever side is furthest away from the door so If we get attacked they get me last :) (not joking)
