Hello, i have recently been on Suboxone for the past month (on and off) and i actually feel either WORSE or at least just as bad when i take it, plus the migraines it causes every single time! Not to mention the cost, which is my biggest issue! So yesterday i got script for SubuTEX- i know they are pratically the same thing but i've heard almost unanimously that Subutex is better than suboxone- true? But the main thing i wanted to ask is...I am wondering should I take Subutex to detox, or should I choose the different route of taking Clonodine I just got and Klonopin, with immodium and aleve? I mean if Sub isnt even helping me, then why should I get hooked on yet another thing to just come down to having to detox all over again in the end?! I'd much rather choose another route so that i only have to do this detox hell ONCE! I am the biggest wimp for physical pain and I can't even get through one day of withdrawal, i just can't take it! So that's the biggest reason I can only go through this hell ONCE! and if i take Subutex, aren't i just going to have to again? As opposed ot my other idea. But then I wanted to know, does the other idea i have actually work? The Klonopin/Clonodine thing? I can also take Ambien at night for sleep. Has anyone tried this method and if so, how did it work? If I do end up having to take Subutex, i don't want to do maintenance because of cost and also dependence, so if it does come down to it, what is the protocol for TAPER as opposed to maintenance? I don't know how to taper, amount-wise...I use about a half gram of heroin a day, if that helps how to determine taper amounts. Please give any advice, it all would be helpful! Starting this process tomorrow!

If you take the subutex I would agree with you that it will prolong your withdrawal but I read you get a script, if you could some how make up a taper plan and get someone to give you the pills, that would probably be the most comfortable. I am currently taking clonidine and it does help with RLS, sweats and helps you sleep. Going the klonopin/clonidine way will be much quicker but its not like those 2 drugs will completely take away your symptoms but will help for sure. So if you say you are wimp for the physical pain that the w/d causes I would probably do a taper with the suboxone rather than just quitting cold turkey with a couple of meds to help out.

The best opiate detox I've had is bupenorphine injections done on a quick 3 day taper. I think the taper length depends on the size of your habit.

I found a hospital that did bupe injections for withdrawal and got myself up there to check in. Of course it's the psych ward where half the patients are for drug detox and the other half are for non-drug related mental problems.

Anyways, I forget the dosage but I got one intramuscular injection everyday. I actually felt pretty good after the injection. I stayed for 4 days and when I left the only symptom I had left was a bit of diarrhea.

The other detox I had was clonidine, vistiril, bentyl, ativan, and tylenol. While I was surprised how well this worked, it left me majorly tired and pretty nauseous. Clonidine worked wonders for the yawns, tears, goose flesh, and sweats.

Still, I'd take the bupe injection taper any day. Of note, I had a moderate habit when I did the bupe taper; I was doing about 5 pills a day (Baltimore scramble).

take the sub.

If you think one day of wd is bad a little kolonopin isnt gonna help three days in.

just take 2mgs of sub a day for a few days then maybe half a mg for a few days and stop and THEN your benzos will help.

I don't know if it's just me, but loerpamide has always worked better than anything for me to detox, the only problem is then I actually have to taper off the loperamide (I know how this sounds but im no opiate withdrawl virgin and this method has saved me numerous times).

Day 1: Take last dose of said opiate, 4-6 hours later take a high (200mg for me) dose of loperamide

Day 2: The loperamide usually lasts a good 24 hours for me in a 200mg dose, so around 24 hours after taking the last dose I usually cut the dose in half and dose again.

Day 3: This is always the hardest day for me, but I usually try to take 1/2 of the Day 2 dose usually around 18 hours after taking it, leading to:

Day 4: I try to only take about 20mgs and then stop from there.

I know that this method is a bit strange, but it really handles all of my symptoms from the anxiety to the yawning, sneezing, watery eyes, thermoregulation and obvious GI problems. There is also the benefit of not having to find suboxone all the time, a simple trip to any pharmacy will do, and (I have been told by a mod I cannot tell you where to go to get the best price because even tho it's OTC it falls under price guidelines) if you go to the right place you can get a huge bottle that will get you through the entire 4 day taper. Also you do not have to admit to a doctor that you abuse opiates which can really screw ya up for life if you get labeled a 'drug seeker'.

Then again this is just the way things work for me and of course everyone is not the same, and before you all ask, I shit just fine. Best of luck with your detox OP.
