How can we not have a thread to the mother of all fighters: Street Fighter, most notably Street Fighter 2

Was this not one of the best games of all time? A whole generation took this game to heart learning all the moves, music, tricks and character bios! The chinese comics were fantastic too.

what say you all!?

play it now here

Street Fighter IV "trailer"
i want to see some ingame action!

hahaha street fighter... oh man that game was my life back in the day. played it a couple of weeks ago again... it's not the same man.

bah don't be a hater man! ;)

that shit is still alright. i've recently gotten heavily into Street Fighter Alpha 3 on the PSP. The gameplay is awesome, as it retains much of the original appeal without too much of the hyper nonsense.

but Shin Akuma's a real cunt! :X

have you guys seen Street Fighter: The Later Years on youtube? excellent shit.

Street Fighter 2 was one of the best games of its time and I spent many hours at the arcades playing it. The hacked arcade version were my favorite though, I never see them any more unfortunately. My favorite 3 were Rainbow Edition v2, Red Wave and Black Belt Edition.

When I was like 10 me and my friend were in an arcade and they had a "competition" going on this racing game. Whoever could get the best track time on hard would win. My friend went up and selected easy mode and somehow the guy who was watching didn't notice. He went up and did really shitty it seemed and then a month later he got a phone call telling him he'd won a Street Fighter arcade game. Like the full game you'd see in an arcade.

It was pretty much the best thing ever. It even came with a manual telling you how to set certain jumpers in the game to activate different hidden game modes. Sadly he moved away a couple years later but just recently I tracked him down and he said he still has it.

^that's the coolest thing i ever heard!

rainbow edition was insane. invisible throw-athon

i've been watched people play SFIV last week during my lunch breaks at the arcade. it looks like they got the formula correct.

both solid and classic 2d fighting with superbly animated 3d characters and backgrounds. the characters look beautiful! the backgrounds have heaps of layers and do not loop.

I had one of these with my SNES

It was sooo good for Streetfighter 2.

Ryu was awesome for destroying people, because of his special moves. But thinking about it, all the characters were great. Zangief, Chun li, the sumo (forget his name). They all their unique moves that could be brutal.

^awesome! i bet you scored with heaps of chicks showing that monster off!

i loved the classic snes controller for sf2, although i broke many of them.

oh man, i played SFIV yesterday and someone challenged me and i beat them!!!

holy shit this game is freakin sweeeeet.

after i eat and read a little during my lunch hour, i've now formed a habit of playing a game of SFIV. loving every minute.

back in the day of champion edition, i was a guile/vega person, now i can play the ryu set of character pretty well!
i got vengeance on a challenger who smashed my vega player with ryu on the third round smashing him witht he bigger of two super moves.

^ Yeah he is pretty feminine.

If I'm not mistaken, this is original artwork from SFII.

I think he actually looks more masculine here than in the game!!

Here is what he looks like in the game:

I bought a twin arcade joystick for my SNES just for this game, people had no idea how I got so good at it without chugging through coins day after day at the arcade.

Sorry, but I was a straight-up Ken snob, especially after the turbo edition. I occasionally branched out to Ryu (if you can call that branching). Fake fireballs, even before they were formally added, were my favourite trick - pepper them at long range then sucker them into a jump! :D

Got to play a round of Street Fighter IV at the tradeshow/party my job throws once a year. All i can say is FUCKING AMAZING

^i L<3VE how the characters would be knocked into perfect likenesses of thir original slumped sprite bodies yet in a full 3d environment render.

and oh yeah, vega was always a nancyboy. crying about keeping his face clean and winning every other round with a yodel. he was the first guy i beat the game with.

i don't know how to pull off his super moves in SFIV
