you haven't heard of "a streetcar named desire"?

I've seen two of these; Streetcar and East of Eden. Streetcar is very good - but basically for the Brando and Leigh performances. It does feel like a stage adaptation, though (which of course it is).

East of Eden came across as a better film, IMO. Dean is great.

There's a lot of Elia Kazan films that I haven't seen, but of the handful I have, I can safely say that I consider him to be one of my favourite directors.

Streetcar is probably considered to be the 'best' of Kazan's work, but I went for East Of Eden as my choice. I'm just a sucker for James Dean. And EOE is my favourite of his three films.

He and Julie Harris had great chemistry, and this is my favourite scene of them together.
