Benzos Which is the "clearest" and least sedating benzo?

Which benzo causes the least drowsiness and cognitive impairment that is best suited for pure anxiolysis and panic attack prevention?

I always thought diazepam was the most subtle, longest lasting, and most clear-headed of all the benzos, until I tried clonazepam for the first time the other night. It kicks in much more gradually, making you not feel like you are on a drug, and is quite effective for generalized anxiety without clouding your judgement as much as the "likeable" (quick onset, short duration) benzos tend to. It also lasts much longer than diazepam does, in terms of therapeutic anxiolysis, despite kpin's misleadingly shorter half life.

I know clonazepam is a hit-or-miss benzo, but it seems like for the people that it works for, it knocks anxiety and panic out of the ballpark.

Xanax obliterates a panic attack once it has begun, but is useless and counterproductive to take on a regular dosing schedule. It also tends to cloud my judgement and disrupt my thinking worse than equianxiolytic dosages of Valium do.

So, which benzo works best for you for getting your mind right but keeping it straight?

When I get really stressed a very low dose Xanax works wonders. I'm talking 0.125mgs.

I would take this when I was studying for school. I had to maintain a 79.5 average in all my courses. Or I failed and had to drop out. Just knowing that sent my anxiety up and was always in the back of my mind. I would start to study and could not retain anything. I could not rememember anything. I would take Xanax 0.125mg and I could focus and get my work done.

The reason why it was stress ful is because I put all weight to pass was on each test.

I saw this as my last chance to make something of my self or go back to to waiting tables. I hated waiting tables. Yes the money was good but you are really just a employed professional begger who relies on the kindness of strangers.

Please tip your waiters. Even the ones who provided services below your standards. Most of the time it's not their fault but the companies. They still have to tip out on your check even if you left nothing. I have gone home crying because I have worked 16hrs and only made $35 while I had to tip out $55 automatically. It sucks.

Back to the topic, 0.125mg Xanax, 0.5mg clonazepam, 5mg Valium, and OTC GABA works great at relieving anxiety or panic attacks and keeps your mind semi clear.

Just a lazy 12.5mgs....

I think Temazepam is the clearest for me aside from my prescribed Valium. I know that it is often prescribed for sleep, but I usually take 15mg which takes care of my anxiety without the sedation.

Xanax XR (.5mg in the morning) keeps my head the clearest while providing the therapeutic benefits I seek. I don't seem to find Xanax IR as sedating as others, however, so take my experiences with a grain of salt. Xanax was also my first benzo...

Lorazepam did nothing therapeutic for me (also not sedating at all). I guess this is the clearest one because I felt such little effect. It may provide therapeutic relief for you, however, and may be worth a try.

Clonazepam (.5mg in the morning) caused rebound anxiety and increasing doses after only 2 months. This led to a switch to Xanax XR. 2 weeks after the switch, I began to feel strong Clonazepam withdrawals in the form of brain zaps, sore muscles, and irritability. For this reason, I am not a big fan of Clonazepam.

Clonazepam for me, last's forever and keeps me chilled out while still focused. Either that or diazepam, but I haven't had that in forever

Very interesting! Yeah, I'd agree with the temazepam.

I think that alprazolam is the best option, it's super potent and yeah it may not last the longest but if you keep your dosing low to begin with, a redose wouldn't be the end of the world. I would agree, keep your tolerance sub-milligram ergicmergic, like 0.25mg/day, since you're not taking much diazepam currently, I can't imagine your tolerance to benzodiazepines being substantial.

Yeah I find 12.5mg of Xanax works great8o. Totally obliterates any anxiety for sure. J/K;)

I feel the same. It's strange, temazepam's one of the more toxic benzos in humans yet it's one of the cleanest at therapeutic doses for me. Also agree with others about lorazepam.

I haven't tried them, but supposedly oxazepam and clorazepate have the least sedation or cognitive problems out of all the benzos.

As much as I love stronger benzos, eg temazepam, nitrazepam etc, I have to admit that therapeutically oxazepam does work without you feeling like you have taken anything.

Temazepam is strong? It takes over 100 mgs to get desired effects for me. Diazepam always seemed rather tame, but still having therapeutic value. Good old clonazepam is fair 'clear' IMO. It seems a bit hit or miss though. Benzo intolerant individuals in my social circle seem to react fairly well to it as well.
