im curious to know which drugs u actually have to boil before ya IV.
I've been told it's not a good idea with any precription pills cuz of the binders & heroin is suppose to be cold water soluble. I know meth & coke are too.
after what ive heard on this site, if I ever do IV again I dont think i'll be heaten it up.

so what's the point?
which drugs do ya actually have to heat to dissolve?
...or do ppl just do it cuz it looks cool or something

In the UK you have to cook heroin generally as it comes in the poorly-soluble freebase forum - you add an acid (citric/ascorbic) and it does need a bit of heating really to get it to dissolve. Having said this, if you add the right amount of acid it shouldn't do.. but it speeds up the chemical reaction turning it into a soluble salt I guess.

I don't think there should be anything you need to heat to dissolve. What's going to happen when it's cooling down in the rig while you find a vein? It's going to precipitate out again and you're injecting solid particles? If you're going to IV something it should be soluble in cold water (or the solvent you choose - for benzos people tend to use a propylene glycol/water mix as almost all benzos aren't soluble enough in water) IMO..

Salts of substances tend to be soluble in cold water (note: not always by any means!) so heroin freebase not so much, where as heroin citrate, fine. Cocaine freebase not very soluble but cocaine hydrochloride, fine.

Heating may be popular because it speeds up dissolving but it also increases the amount of fillers/binders/general crap that dissolves too so as you said, it isn't a good practice at all. You're right, you should never heat a pill.

Some people think it is "sterilising" the shot but believe me a few seconds (or even minutes tbh) blast with a lighter does absolutely nothing. Except maybe make things worse as bugs reproduce faster in the warm ;)

There are a lot of practices in the drugs world that have very little bearing on actual science and a lot on history/drug-lore etc..
