Alcohol Which day do seizures supposedly occur when CTing booze

Hey all, Im an alcoholic Ive kicked booze several times, did inpatient rehab twice, managed an outpatient detox w/benzo with doctor, kicked on my own a few times with no help. This time, inpatient rehab and supervised detox w/benzos is not an option, Ill have to be on my own. Contrary to popular belief, the ER does NOT automatically take you in and help you detox just because youre having alcohol withdrawals, even with obvious severe tremors. I did it last time and they just hit me with a bag of saline and explained to me how a proper taper is supposed to be done, then sent me a several hundred dollar bill for it.

Anyway I dont know if Im mistaking it for benzos, but I believe I read here on Bluelight that seizures typically occur on like day 3 of cold turkey in some people. Today I had over 2 days sober, but my shakes were noticeably worse than yesterday and my balance is shot. Last time I noticed hardly any impairment to walking if at all on withdrawal, but Im sober and I walk like Im a pint deep this time. So I got a tad concerned and scraped together my last 5 bucks for some vodka a couple hours ago. Managed to somehow only take 2 shots (like asking a sick IV opie to only smoke 0.1 off a gram) and magically Im walking perfectly. Sadly I dont trust myself to be able to maintain a 2 shot buzz, and if I end up drinking it all tonigt Id like to prepare myself for the CT that Ill probably be facing this week.

So I guess the questions I have for you fine folk are:

Is there a certain day in detox that seizures typically occur? Like the 3rd or 4th day after cessation? Id like to make an effort to be around family or friends on that day in case I seize out and need someone to call for medical attention.

How often would you recommend someone who drinks a fifth (750 ml) of liquor daily take his taper shots? A shot or 2 every 4-6 hours is where I would start off personally, and then gradually increase time between shots, but Ive never done more than a crash taper before.

Ive CTed before with a slightly higher tolerance without seizures, but I was reckless before and these withdrawals seem to get worse everytime I start drinking. Thanks all, Im broke without insurance and the county hospital here doesnt do more for booze withdrawals than IV saline.

Well I figure 70 people who viewed this didnt have a reply and a lot more would eventually, there may be at least a little benefit in posting this. Did a little research.

Seizures from cessation will most typically occur within the first 48 hours. And they are much more likely to occur in people who've experienced repeated withdrawals previously, an effect known as "kindling". Repeated withdrawals also permanently impair multiple parts of your brain and your ability to retain new information. So even if this is my last withdrawal and Im sober forever my brain will still always be deficient in extremely vital areas of my brain. Fascinating read really and very much also applies to benzo dependent individuals as well.

Sorry, bluelight prob has way more heroin addicts than alcoholics. personally tapering using alcohol sounds impossible. there are rc benzos which can help, diclazepam is cheap and should work and let you cut your alcohol usage down (or maybe etizolam which you can get in pharmaceutical form).

i don't know about the kindling thing, i've been through benzo withdrawal a lot of times and it seems sporadic to some extent how bad it is.

From doctors I've heard the potential for seizures from heavy use can happen up to 7 days from stopping, if you don't seize after a week you're fine (I've seen some people online say you can have a seizure a month after stopping but that sounds like bullshit) It also depends on the persons body chemistry and how much they are drinking, for how long, etc I don't think anyone can tell you.

I dont know if its a stupid idea but perhaps you can get your hands on some pregabaline(lyrica) wich is an anti-epileptic and has also some benefits for sleeping, its somewhat sedating.
I would just stop cold turkey anyhow i think a taper with alcohol is almost impossible, and you dont want to get hooked on benzo's instead.
But watch out with the lyrica too, take it in low doses and not too long it can be quite addictive too and the withdrawls can be unbearable, i find it though not as addicitive as benzo's.
oh and i wouldnt go with rc's in a critical time like this

Is pregabalin legally available online like the RCs?

Also I was reading up on etizolam and its not a benzo. Is it similar enough in composition to negate seizures like benzos?

I was doing so good but last night I got hammered. I lack the self control to taper when theres a bottle in the house.

Buying BZDs off the greynet to self medicate is a good way to switch your alcohol addiction for a much nastier, more acutely nasty benzodiazepine addiction...

we're not allowed to discuss legality of anything here, either.

up to 7 days, personally my worst withdrawal was day 3 or 4. I too am a chronic drunk, ive been to many, many detoxes and its now needed. Alky withdrawal gets worse over time and as we age. Hell ive been in ICU a couple times it got so bad, the worst though was my last time. like I said, on day 3 or 4 I was seeing cats and sh!t. Day 2 I was fine, in detox and benzos, then WHAM....I was completely fucked. Ive done the "self" tapering method, and I failed every time unless someone else was present and in control of the bottle dispensing shots. Good luck to you.
