Which chemical draw software do you use?

Benzobay, chemdraw will tell you the mass as you draw it, along with molecular formula, elemental analysis, expected MS pattern from isotopes, predict proton and carbon NMR's pretty well, generate names from structures and vice versa and more stuff i dont really use. Its really good but im sure its horrendously expensive, if you buy it!
Tried some of the linux ones when i had ubuntu on my comp and didnt like them at all! Awkward, slow, would be a nightmare for drawing lots of complicated molecules consistently.

Thanks for the reply! I kinda figured if its something I don't understand...I don't need it

:D Dutch

Yeah you dont really need any of it but it is a lot quicker to draw with and the only thing that gives really pro looking drawings with so little effort!

Funny you should ask; last week I fainlly bought Biodraw Pro (its chemdraw with a few things taken out of it) for only 40$ because i'm a student.

Killer deal. Got a few questions on it. Was it particular to your school, or what, because if not I'd buy that in a second (I'm a student). If not, can you PM me a link or physical location where you got it.

Also, whats taken out (roughly)? Does it still have the analytical tools, NMR/MS/etc, as mentioned below?

Thanks.

I don't think it really matters what school you go to, the current university I go to is like a 4th tier school in the US.
But I did say I was a bio student (which I am), and also did have to give my student ID. (Maybe if you're a chem student they give u a diff version)

I just bought it off their website where it says special deals for students/faculty or w/e, and it asked me a few validation questions ect; subsequent to my answers it gave me a list of prices for various packages ect.

I think it lacks the NMR/MS capabilities, you should call them and ask tell them ur interested in that, maybe they'll cut u an even better deal for exactly what u want....

It really helped me on organizing my thoughts for the organic synthesis homework we were prescribed in class;
LOL when i got back the assignment from the professor he wrote NICE WORK, DID U USE CHEMDRAW? and later on in his office we had a small laff over it all.

Good luck, i'm sure u'll find a great deal, either off their site or conversely by calling them...

ChemDraw and ChemSketch for 2D structures and reaction schemes. I've not really given smiles a chance yet, but the little I have tried, some problems has occured.
