I have been on fentanyl for 9 yrs. I take 125mg. I use Mylan but am considering switching to Mallinckroot..
What is your opinion?

My husband, who has cancer, said he got the most pain relief from Watson, but the glue gave him a rash. He got used to it though. I hated fentanyl because it messed up my memory and concentration.

Best of luck to you and be careful driving!

I have CROHNS DX, 14 reconstructive surgeries on my rectum/vagina and a 30 degree curve in my back which has all that goes along with scoliosis. The pelvic pain is beyond controlled.
I have been on 125mg for 9 yrs and am not getting the same relief that I did to begin with. Because I have CROHNS disease (colostomy bag) they put me on the patch because I do not absorb what a normal person would with oral meds.. It's just in and out, dissolved or not.
I want something different and thought changing brands may help. I like the Mylan because it adheres great (put on my abdomen).
Any suggestions?
An answer to the above: Watson is a really cheap, ineffective brand, I would consider another brand. If your husband is having an allergic reaction, all the more reason to switch. Best of luck to you.

Welcome to BL! :)
You'll get more responses if you post your question in BDD, as this section is mostly just for new members to introduce themselves.

ETA: I think you'd have an easier time either increasing your dosage or asking your doctor to prescribe an additional opioid for breakthrough pain. Preferably something shorter acting that kicks in quickly.

Potency may vary a little between the different brands but I don't think the difference is so extreme that switching would enough of an impact. Not to mention the trial and error involved in finding the right one.

If these are patches, you should look into the timing of the delivery system.

They both have the same amount of fentanyl granted they are the same dosage

I hve used 3 different brands of fentanyl patch. Watson 100s are very large & irritate my skin as well. But I hve noticed generic patches vary a bit on the amt. Of medicine in them. Think watson is lowest ive seenbt maybe cuz its gel it works better. I hate their so big & sound lke a diaper.lol. I wld be interested to get ur opinions, do u lke the gel or flat patches better & y? Does anyone get Janssen (sp?) The name brand & how much fentanyl is in them. (If u look on package it says in vivo delivery of an amt per mcg) im getting cut from 125 every 2days to 100 every 3 days. Appreciate any opinion. Thx

Hey

Different brands can have anywhere from 90-110% the strength of the original. I've tried probably 4 or 5 brands of patches and in my opinion the flat ones without gel work the best if you're going to use them as intended and not abuse them. I feel like they last longer as well. I know you're not supposed to but I love to press a ziplock bag of warm water to it for about 15 mins every now and again - but be careful it can hit really hard sometimes.
