I thought this site had some cool like minded people I could converse with and share experiences and such but so far all I've encountered is smart ass remarks and holier than thou attitudes I don't understand maybe im just in the wrong place but im not feeling welcomed if anything the opposite could be said thanks for that

a belated welcome to bluelight.

i'm sorry you've ran across some antagonistic behavior that's tarnished your experience on the website. bluelight is at times a mirror of real life. you'll find some awesome people, and not so awesome people. in my experience though the former is much more common than the latter.

the best way to deal with any problems is to try and shrug them off, report any offending posts and get in touch with a moderator if there's a particular member who's being problematic.

i'm going to move your thread.

homeless -> support

Hey RVA...thank for being so cool to me on my post. I know what you mean, sometimes people aren't cool about things, like you would think. Like baoozs said, shrug those people off. There are people here, (me for one), that are supportive, and far from holier-than-thou. You can talk to me anytime if you need to. :)

hey rvabrowntownrva, try to type this with caps locked and loaded.
It's totally true, but the same on pretty much every public board. Don't take it personally, people never know each and every others circumstances.
Say what you have to say; but keep it personal on pm's if it's private.
Welcome, if anyone can help; this is the best place to be.

I've noticed the same thing lately, not that I'm an angel. But I've had at least two threads I've started somewhat recently that I just ended up abandoning because people would rather act like smartasses or have a pissing contest than contribute anything meaningful to the thread. It seems like it only happens in certain sections of this site tho because I haven't really encountered those attitudes in the mental health section or the dark side. I had to leave one section because it was wearing off on me and so biased that it wasn't even funny especially when downright troll posts were ignored as long as they were on the "elitist" side of the section.

i think that baooozs hit the nail on the head, for the most part. bluelight is a microcosm - there are assholes in real life so there are assholes here. you've chosen to stick around for now so i'm guessing something is bringing you back? seek that out. create the bluelight experience you want to have (by being the bluelight experience you want to have). if somebody is attacking you in an inappropriate manner, report them and move on.

i have found, in my 11 years as a bluelighter that a lot of frustration can arise when you (plural) start or participate in a thread and it doesn't unfold as you had planned or hoped. given the spectrum of people here, that's more likely than not, isn't it? so when you start (or contribute to a thread) and you get responses which you didn't expect, or which simply disagree with you or offer a perspective you hadn't considered, don't take it personally. embrace and celebrate the fact that somebody took enough interest in your comment to post a response.

welcome to bluelight.
