As much as I like how things are today with cannabis, the truth is I kind of “miss” the old days of the scene. Not the illegality, I enjoy that now I can order online or get delivery and have it brought home legally, vape, flower, hash, edibles, everything.
But I grew up smoking natural, organic cannabis. I grew up in southern Europe, and usually we had Albanian weed, which wasn’t that great, but sometimes they brought quality Albanian that was actually really good.
My best highs and the best stuff I’ve ever smoked were basically a red flower from a village in Greece, another flower that looked a lot like super silver haze but was actually a local strain, and Grade A Moroccan hash.
Those had the best highs, they had character and each one was different, while today everything feels the same, just heavy THC with different flavors. Kind of like alcohol in a way, different tastes, same kind of intoxication.
Back then, the strongest stuff and the ones that felt like haze we used to call skunk, and they were different from today’s stuff, stronger than the organic ones, let’s say, but still much more “mild” compared to modern strains.
The first time I smoked amnesia haze I was around 17 18, and I had been smoking daily since about 13. We didn’t have stuff like that here, only natural, which now you can’t really find anywhere unless you know some uncle who’s been growing organic in a village for years, very rare. I’ve quit smoking for about 2 years now, and honestly just seeing today’s strains kind of scares me to smoke again haha, while if there was something like Moroccan chocolate or something natural like back then, I’d easily have one joint.
