Where do you purchase your music from?

I use a few different sources for the vinyl I buy. When I buy online (where I do the good majority of my buying...), I use Forced Exposure and Boomkat in roughly equal measure, as they both supply much of the music that my tastes veer towards. Others I use less frequently are Bleep, Groove Distribution and Mimaroglu Music Sales, or the label/artist site themselves.

I also hit up one of my local record stores often, mostly for the less obscure electronic titles that they will carry and for non-electronic music.

When I buy digitally, I always try to get it straight from the label or artist website if possible.

I really only ever buy CDs if the vinyl release is prohibitively expensive (not common, but sometimes they are...), or if there never was a vinyl release of the title.

How about you guys?

I don't buy vinyl any more due to current lack of tables, but I buy my mp3s from Beatport

:D

^ It gives me great happiness to financially support the artists whose music I love, especially within the underground electronic music culture that I hold dear. Without the support of fans and DJs, there is no meaningful foundation left on which the music of that culture can stand.

Trust me, I download as much as the next guy, but if I like the music I'm going to give the artist some of my dollars. Besides, I love having a physical collection of vinyl and CDs. :)

Either Beatport or Juno for mp3s. Still get the odd CD from Amazon or JB.

Local stores first, then Musicstack (or Gemm, or Discogs) if I need to go via the net. Always vinyl unless unavailable in that format.

I don't dj so I don't need high quality copies, so lets just say I haven't purchased music in a good long while

I used to be like that when I was young and didn't have much coin. Now that I get paid I wouldn't even consider illegal dls when I can get a 320 mp3 very easily and cheaply from Beatport / juno / etc.

That said, I spend a lot of time on soundcloud downloading mixes or just streaming stuff. I only buy stuff that I really really like. I feel like I should buy the stuff I really like to encourage artists to make more of it.
