I thought of you today, for about the hundredth time, hearing your voice echo from my memories.
I wonder where you are, now. I miss you.
Images of your smile stretches my lips to make one of my own, and it sticks to my face at the most random of times - though it is always welcome. My arms are hollow. There is an emptiness within them that long to hold you again, to embrace you and feel the realness of your presence - to know your heartbeat is so close to mine, your breath on my chest.
I reflect on your hair, whatever color is may be for the week and how it shows your personality - the flair, vibrancy, the sense of being whatever you truly feel yourself to be - screw the world, you gotta be you. And that matching smile, the one that with a quick flash can share your soul for a moment, sealing a memory and a bond. That laugh, oh how I miss that laugh. Unobtrusive, subtle, yet full of life, power, and a love for others. I call on that laugh when life gets me down - nobody can stay sad when they hear that laugh of yours, knowing you've got some joy to share with them, even a simple whimsical thought. But perhaps the key to the ghost that follows me is your eyes. They always had that sparkle, that magical fire, that ability to see through everything and accept us as we truly are (and as we try to present ourselves). Sharp perception, open acceptance, and an offering of infinite hope and love - those eyes. I can't leave out that personality - the one that is so open hearted, and loyal to the end. The attitude that you'd defend your friends against any odds, your love for them fuels that loyalty, and we love you for it - likewise, we'll always love and defend you, we could never do without you in our lives.
I close my eyes and I see us sitting on a back porch in the mountains watching the sun go down as we sip some (crack
) tea. Sharing the stories of our lives, the events that shaped who we've become. Sharing memories of how we met, the times we were together as well as the long days apart. As the night flows on, we stare at the naked stars and let them listen to the memories we hope to make. Our lives have entwined, always to be a part of one another - this is the joy of being human. Some say the goal in life is to make your mark in the world - you've made a mark when you touched my heart. Forever part of who I am, I will spred your influence to all I meet. Everyone should be blessed to have a part of you in their lives, even second hand through my re-telling. You are a special person, and I thank you for loving me. Know that I love you as well, and will continue to love you forever.
