Where are the free parties?! (dallas, texas)

All of my older friends exclaim how i missed the golden age of ecstasy in dallas because before strict regulation was placed, free parties and outdoor raves were somewhat common, apparently.

my question is simple, do these even exist any longer and are there such thing as underground raves anymore? especially interested if you are from the dallas area of course.

underground raves do still happen, but they are normally pretty small events. You have to know the right people. If you are looking to meet people in the scene, there is probably some website for Dallas where they list electronic events (non-underground parties). If you start to meet people, they should help you find the less advertised events.

I used to live and Dallas but know nothing about the scene.

i dont get into the rave scene but i know people that do. no really close friends, so it might take awhile before i get back with any information. used to be that deep ellum was a good place to go and do that sorta thing n meet people that knew where else to go but the city wanted to clean up Deep Ellum cuz it is historic n they kicked out/ forced out a bunch of bars, clubs, headshops, even texas hydroponics moved.

also as far as 'free' parties go i think you will find that most places are collectin a cover.

i used to live in dallas as well, and the old site for all the locals (draves) is now called dallasdancemusic.com. i would start there for party listings and that sort of thing. deep ellum used to be the spot for no cover party hopping if you like the whole DJs-in-a-bar setup (which dallas excelled at), but the poster above me is correct in saying that scene has died.

by the way, the golden age of ecstasy in dallas was killed by meth just as much as it was squashed by government regulation.
