So I conquested both our countries
And I lost my battles there!
Each contested white hope-flag
fell beneath me, red, blood-stain'd
Whose ichor drained to
___Ardent fields? The colours
___have all run together
but are we so entwined as this
A pity war is so inclined
As our stars are aligned to kiss.

There are wide white fields between us
but above us self-same stars
The rampant patterns dusk to day
Warfields to wage these battles on
___(Look into my eyes; it is hard to look away
___Do you see what I am trying to say?)
Who can say; they shall align!
To kiss, O do you see the
layers lift, or are you yet
___Earthbound; O mother --
There is no up or down!
Life constructed round the other
___Are they so intertwined?
I tell you that the stars are there
but you will see them shifting --
You are not so misaligned; earth-bound
___There is freedom
All around from war, separate from the
___Stratosphere
When you are beneath me
When the stars all
___Disappear
