When was Benzedrine discontinued?

Hey just a quick drug history related question here: around what time were Benzedrine tablets discontinued? I know that for the inhalers it was sometime in the late 60's or early 70's, but how long was it before production of the tablets ceased and Adderall and whatnot came along?

I wasn't quite sure where to put this so move or merge if necessary mods.

The inhaler was banned in 1959 when benzedrine became Rx only, Biphetamine (precursor to adderall) folded up in the 70s, and apparently benzedrine pills/racemic amph was stopped in the early 90s.

I can't find any concrete dates though.

Possible. I know in Canada they became unavailable in the mid/late 70's for sure. I was there. That started a whole industry that seems to have morphed into the RC thing ( the 'hightech version to me at least).


Used to be able to telephone order shit that was basically ephdrine/caffeineI in humoungas (sp?) doses and who knows what else( AKA fake). I used to work nights at the time in a printing plant full of some 'individualistic' individuals who used to indulge a fair bit. I think if you google it it says legal benzedrine production was stopped in the 70's ( in Canada and N.A. I think least). Could be mistaken (yeah it happens) but I used to love those things and that is my experience. YMMV

Hmmm this is all very interesting, but why did the bennies go and not the dexies? I mean, I know there's no point in missing Benzedrine seeing as less levoamphetamine seems to be a good thing for the most part, but goddamnit those bennies formed a massive part of the drug culture of the olden days!!! It can not all be lost!!!
