So, I met this girl last night at the bar. We talked for a while, then went for a stroll around town to talk alone. We returned to the bar to talk over drinks, and proceeded to gaze into each others eyes without speaking for some time. We also hugged, embraced, a couple times for like five minutes. I really needed this.

Later on in the evening, she said she saw some friends who she had not seen in years, so she gave me her number and said she would like to see me again.

I think I may have came on to her a bit strong. I want her to know that I am thinking about her, but I want to give her space too, you know?

When is a good time to call?
 
I doubt she would have given you her number if you came on too strong; she more than likely would have asked for yours or not exchanged numbers at all.

If I were you, I would wait at least a full 24 hours before calling her. I'm a girl and I can honestly say that most women probably don't adhere to some kind of formula that dictates whether or not they like a man based on how long a guy waits before calling. With that being said, you don't wanna come off as a needy by calling her within a day and you don't want to seem like an asshole by waiting any more than a week.

I say call her in two days, make plans for the following weekend, and after that's said and done, leave her alone until you two meet up again.
 
The last time someone asked me for my number, he waited about a week before calling. I actually thought something was wrong when he took too long. LOL I'd say a couple days is pretty respectable.
 
Call as soon as you feel like it. I like when guys don't wait to call me. It shows their level of interest. Wait too long and you risk losing the vibe the two of you were feeling.

Ha, I'm bad for this. But yeah, calling is always better than texting, you can pick up so much more context with the sound of a voice. Usually I wait 2 or 3 days. I find a couple days gives me time to think about how I'm going to approach the situation and also gives the girl a little time to wonder what I'm all about. A little mystery never hurts, but too much can easily be confused as disinterest.
 
Oh man....that's funny. I just read the texting thing. I make whole conversations and dates using text message. I love it.

I don't really like talking on the phone, so maybe I'm weird. I much prefer the guy text message me. This way, I can answer at my leisure, I'm not sitting on the phone with weird silence periods and there is no weird hangup queue. I'm much better in person when it comes to making conversation.

Same.

I dated a girl for 5 months and only spoke to her on the phone 4 or 5 times. Ha.

yep. I'm pretty confident outgoing extroverted dude but damn the phone is WEIRD. I found with every new person I talk to on the phone I need to not only build a real relationship with them but also build a 'phone relationship'.

the first time I heard my baby's voice was on the phone since we met here. It was hot to hear.

Actually the first time I heard her voice was on a short video clip of her calling "hey babyyy" to her cat :D THAT was the hottest shit ever.

People have insanely neurotic ideas when put under some kind of social pressure, and if you're debating the answer with others over something this simple than that means you're already losing the capacity to think for yourself in favor of behaving like every one else.


Congrats on marriage.

Lysis, I know exactly what you mean! Texting with a chick is so much easier then phone convo! I like it cause I can formulate my replies well.

As for the time? Call her when you feel like talking to her! There is no magical time period, but I think excess delays are bad.
