When to Bother with Cold Water Extraction?

I know there's a lot of threads on this, but I just a had a quick question. I'm very new to opiates, actually haven't done any in years,

I have some generic 5/500 hydros..I was gonna take 10 or 15mg for now. Should I bother with a CWE or just pop them?

Since it's so easy, I wanted to CWE just for the hell of it. Any thoughts?

I'd say it's worth doing it if only for practice and to get into the habit. It also means that if you redose, you won't have to worry about doing another CWE.

I wouldn't bother with a CWE unless you're dealing with a dangerous level of APAP. I mean, you could do it to "hone your technique" so to speak, but it's a bit pointless as you'll end up losing a little bit of your already small amount in the process.

Ive only tried it a couple of times with some 30/500 painkillers the G.P recently precsribed my mum.

I ground the pills to dust by chopping and grinding in an old weed grinder until its was as near as dust as possible, i then emptied the powder into a small glass of water waited 10-15minuts so that they would (hopefully dissolve as much as possible) i then filtered the wter through an old sock into another glass and the theory is the clearer the filtered the water the more successful the extraction.

Some body please correct me if im wrong.

Btw i have high Opiate tolerance (ceiling dose 300-400gm) so if i have any substances that do contain high amounts of Paracetamol (most uk products that do contain codeine OTC 12mg usually come with 500 mg paracetamol) and most prescribed codeine products have maximum of 30mg or possibly more of codeine still come with 500 mg paracetamol AFAIK.

It's going to be pretty inefficient to do a CWE on just 3 pills. Considering you're only supposed to use 2ml of water per pill, most of that is going to get soaked up by the filter, even if you pre-wet it (which you should ALWAYS do). Unless you have a bunch of them that you can do all at once and then save the liquid for later, I would definitely not bother. That's barely over the recommended dose and far below the maximum dose of APAP.

The current guidelines recommend 3500 mg of APAP as the maximum per day. As long as you are under that, I wouldn't bother with a CWE. You should also remember that a CWE isn't perfect, you won't extract all of the codeine or hydrocodone and you won't leave all of the APAP behind.
