First off, I'm using a brand new rig(1/2 ML). I use about as much water as the rig can take, plus a little more cuz some will boil off. After I cook it up I put in the cotton in and try to draw up... But it gets clogged easily or its just too thick. Then I can't add water and boil it more because the cottons in there and I dont think you're suppose to cook it with the cotton in there. Its a pain in the ass cuz then I'm just sitting there with a spoon of liquid dope and nothin to do with it.

I know this seems like an easy thing to figure out, but I guess I'm not thinking straight.

Use a lower gauge needle and/or one with a higher capacity. What are you shooting that you need to cook?

Oh I don't see the prefixs in my layout style. Are you in europe? American heroin doesn't need to be cooked (its in a readily soluble salt form, parts that dont dissolve are cut).

What gauge are you using? Mine would get clogged alot if i used 31s.

There's two things you can do: get a bigger rig or do less in a shot. 1/2 mL is a pretty small shot. Most people use at least 1mL if not bigger rigs.

Filtering using a cotton is mostly a formality*, it isn't actually removing any of the fine particulate that can damage small blood vessels. It only really removes the big chunks. For best health and safety you should look into getting a pack of 0.2 micron wheel filters.

If it's powder heroin you should not need to cook it to get it dissolved - it should be plenty water soluble on its own and heating it will only dissolve more cuts (thereby making it more viscous).
If it's tar heroin and you're cooking it, you should let it cool in your spoon again before filtering. Otherwise, as the liquid cools, dissolved tars and the like can come out of solution. If it happens in the syringe it can clog. (And injecting anything hotter than body temperature can damage your veins and tissue).

Also, fresh cold tap water is a better source of water than bottled water.

*Storytime with sekio! I read a (probably apocryphal) story that the use of cotton balls in preparing injections actually wasn't for their use as filters. It was to protect the delicate tip of the needle from banging against the spoon or other vessel and losing its sharpness. Whether or not this is true remains a mystery.

I'll keep this in mind. I am using tar, I'm on the west coast. I'll remember to let it cool down next time... Although from what I've seen it hardens back up when it cools down, making it tougher to draw up. So that seems contradictory to what you're saying.

^ Thats funny you say that, Sekio... Thats the reason I use a cotton even when I dont need to, secondly to make sure I get every bit of water out of the cooker, as if I dont there is always some left behind.

OP, Id suggest definitely switching to 1mL rigs. 1/2s are never enough for me, either. Idk man, be patient drawing it up. I know that is frustrating as hell.

I would use 1ml but all I can get from the dealer is 1/2s. I live in a city where they dont sell syringes at the drug store.

There are no local needle exchanges? That surprises me with you being west cost

Also

Also how much do you throw in a shot?
Do you chop it up first?
Have you tried mixing it cold and just pressing at it with a sterile tool? (plunger from the syringe works great)
Have you ever made a successful shot with this batch?

1. use a quarter gram to a half gram in a shot.
2. I dont chop it up
3. I use a plastic toothpick or somethin similar to mix around the stuff that wont break down
4. Yes I was just successful today

I think I figured out what it is... After I cook theres a tad of goop stuck to the bottom of the spoon. When I put the cotton in I put it right on top, that was the mistake. If I put the cotton off to the side of the spoon, I dont have the problem.

And yes, We have a needle exchange. But because of the position im in, I cant show my face there (its complicated)

Have s friend go to the exchange? Dress up with shades and a beanie? Trust me it's worth going to the exchange for clean filters/rigs, sterilfilt micron filter tips possibly, alcohol pads, sterile water packs, tie offs, alcohol pads, and even safe sex and crack smoking supplies all free.

Definitely mix your shit until there's no solid stuff left even if particles float undissolved as that's what the filter is for. I find chopping it into pieces helps.

Once bottled water like Evian is opened it starts to go bad. It goes thick and syrupy after a day or two and makes it hard to suck up.

now it all makes sense, ive been usin the same one for weks

No you can't. Only if you share water and equipment can you get hep c. It's not healthy though.

^ well i have hep and my doctor told me it is possible to give it to yourself...

Your doctors a moron than and you should get a new one. You can only get hep from something someone with hep infected.

Ive also never heard of bottle water going thick and syrupy....

You should still use new rigs and water everytime so your trackmarks heal faster and you dint get a bacterial infection.

Trust me, bottled water goes syrupy and off a few days after you open it. I don't know if every brand does, but most do. Very unhealthy!
