when people 'cook' meth...

do they ever cook other type of amphetamines that aren't m-amp? where do amphetamines besides meth come from? anyone seen them sold on the streets? (not including rx)
 
well, alot of people have scrips for Dexedrine and Adderall, which are d-amp and a mix of d- and l-amp, respectively. I have heard that in britain, it is virtually impossible to get meth, but straight amphetamine is fairly common, though i dont know where it comes from. also, remember that MDA and MDMA are both, technically, amphetamines.
 
yeah i realize mda/mdma are amps...but i was thinking of the ingrediant in dexedrine, but not dexedrine...what is the next preferred amp by most besides m-amp
 
I think it's partly to due with availability of precursors.

I believe the method used most is a reduction reaction (de-oxygenate) of a widely available precursor. With this reaction, psuedoephedrine yields methamphetamine and phenylpropylamine yields amphetamine. Phenylpropylamine is no longer used legitimately, but psuedoephedrine remains an OTC product.

But, if the amphetamines are being synthesized from phenylacetone (P2P), the choice of the end product is more deliberate. methylamine is used to produce methamp while amonia is used to make "plain" amp. I dunno if one is more available than the other though.

Since demand for methamphetamine is already established in this country, the cooks are just giving the people what they want. I believe in europe, amphetamine sulfate is the typical clandestinely produced stimulant... can anyone verify this?
 
Methamphetamine is more popular in North America
Racemic amphetamine (in sulfate and other forms) is more popular in Europe

I dunno about other parts of the world, but stirfry is right, its all about the precursors and the local demands. Psuedoephedrine and ephedrine are still available in North America, whereas phenylpropylamine is now unavailable. However, phenylpropylamine is still easily acquired in Europe, and the market for regular amphetamine exists there.

From what I can tell, it is harder to get prescription amphetamines in Europe than it is in the United States, which would explain the existence of a market for illegally produced amphetamine in Europe.

If you ask me, you can blame the methamphetamine demand in the U.S. and Canada (of course coming from Mexico mostly now) on the pharm companies who have been pushing Adderall and Dexedrine on doctors and the general public since the 1950s, the work-until-you-die ethic the U.S. was founded on, and Hell's Angels.

Methamphetamine, the ultimate American drug.

I made amphetamine a few times back before PPA was banned (it killed some fat girls), but it's been off the market for quite awhile now. European speed is usually made from P2P, which means you need either ammonia to make amp or methyamine to make meth. Ammonia is much easier to obtain.
 
I get amphetamine sulphate (powdered amphetamine) its pritty rare but i've got it a few times....taste dif to meth when smoked smokes up dif.diff high very clea high...b
