When Injecting - how much water to use?

I was wondering if it mattered how much water I use when injecting dilaudid or other pills. Obviously u need enough to dissolve the drug but does it matter if you use too much or if you use just enough, does this affect the way it flows through your veins? When I was doing heroin I sometimes would do so many bags in one shot that I could just barley get it to fit in my rig and it was a kind of dense solution. I just wanna know if this can cause harm to my veins and what not.

^ You don't want to be injecting anything dense or viscous if you can help it - it will increase the risk of complications. For one thing, you need to apply more pressure to inject it, and there is more risk of the needle slipping out or you blowing the vein. But more importantly - opioids are freely soluble in water; if your solution is thick, you don't have enough water for the opioid to dissolve or (more likely) it is sludgy from the fillers/binders/general crap. What do you use to filter? It's really important to use a micron filter when injecting pills (and street drugs as you don't know what they are cut with) otherwise fillers/binders can lodge in the lungs and cause an irreversible long disease called pneumoconiosis. Microns also help keep your shot more sterile. Micron filtering megathread :)

I have never injected Dilaudid so can't comment on that.. with heroin you really do need it to be thin; if it is thick then you definitely either need more water or to filter it well with a micron (always use a micron anyway!) If you are getting to the stage of needing two pins worth despite doing this, then it is definitely time to cut down your habit!!

edit: I changed your title to make it clearer what you are asking, hope that is okay :)

what are the symptoms of pneumoconiosis? I have had a very bad cough for weeks now where i'm coughing up shit and it wont go away. I was planning on ordering micron filters when the funds are available to me and I can get some one with a card to do so. I need fresh needles too. Thers no needle exchange in my town. can you get micron filters at a pharmacy?

There's info on where to get them in the megathread - some needle exchanges do them, or you can get them online. Not pharmacies as far as I am aware..

Symptoms of pneumoconiosis include cough (usually dry), shortness of breath and occasionally chest pain - it's something that develops slowly and progressively, think of it like the lung disease smokers get (emphysema) - it's unlikely your current cough is caused by it, but it would be worth getting it checked out by a doctor anyway.

Pneumoconiosis info (note - sometimes called coal-workers lung as it can be caused by coal dust, or talcosis if it is caused by talc in pills etc - it's the same process though)

thats good to know that its usually a dry cough. Since you told me not to heat the pills I havnt. I probably will see a doc about my cough anyway. I really need to get those filters though. Bluelight has definatly been giving me good info on the safety issues on using drugs. thanks again.

^ anytime, really glad it has been helpful for you :) good luck tracking down the microns, you should be able to find them online if your local needle exchanges don't have them - I believe there are some websites in the megathread I linked you to. They are sometimes called wheel filters instead of micron filters..

More info on them :)

With the usual 4mg hydromorphone pills, I'd typically end up with 12mg doses in 65-80 units of water after filtering through cotton. I could probably get away with <50 units, but once ground to a fine powder there's an awful lot of material to wet down, so I preferred to use a bit excess water just to make things easier.

For UK H I usually use about 30-35 units per bag, OC 1ml per 80, fent 2.5ml boiled down to about 60 units.
Just experiment I guess, I like to use a a bit more water than I need but there's no real reason to. As long as you're not injecting sludge you should be fine :)

got my lungs checked out got bronchitis lol but not pneumonicosis wich im thankfull not to have. thanks for the advice
