When does your suboxone "kick in"? & concerning tramadol and other nonesense

Hello,
I am wondering what people have experienced for onset of action for suboxone on the first dose after taking your DOC (or induction I guess you might call it)?

I for one find it takes an awful long time to kick in, which is the my biggest dislike about the medication, especially when us users are very into instant gratification. For me iit can take up to 2 hours before I feel relief, and I have switched back and forth around 20 times now, from both Oxy and H. Sometimes, like for instance this morning, I will redose because I feel so awful, but the initial dose may have not kicked in yet. I usually feel like crap in the morning after using the following night so don't need to wait any longer, I took 2 mg, waited 1 hour. Not much relief, then took another 1.5 mg, 30 minutes after that I started to get the energy I need to go on with the day. I am very well aware there are some aches and fatigue with subs, regardless, but its better than laying in bed kicking for 15 minutes, pacing for 5 minutes, taking a leak, laying down for 10 mor minutes, pacing for another 5, researching internet for ways to feel better for 15 minutes, and so on for 48-72 hours, until I finally decide to take a copious amount of benzos, drink a few beers, smoke some good weed and most likely I will fall into a 6 hour coma. At least that is how my cold turkey attempts have gone (done 3 times and worked each time, but I would have cracked if I had access or money to allow me to crack).

Anyway, I have always felt fine with 2 mg, but I think my tolerance is up on the H so I need a little more. 2 mg was good for 30mg oxy x4-7 a day, but now I do about .5-.8 or decent powder H. I actually tried using a oxy 30 recently and it didn't do much for me, took it in the morning and I was still needing a small line of H to get me going that morning. So maybe that it the issue, but I took the extra 1.5 mg and only 30 minutes later I started feeling better, so those 1.5 probably had little effect on that. That is why I wonder how long others wait it out to see if they took enough. I know I am not having any PWD, its just a lack of effect, no change. I also find that a after a hot cup of coffee I feel way better, but if I wasn't already feeling better I wouldn't have been able to stomach the coffee. Just once I get that coffee down I am good to go, not feeling great, definitely acceptable, though.

Also going to throw in a question about tramadol with subs and see if anyone has some insight. I have 100 mg, and I have to do something later today. Think it will help to take those? I have read plenty of anecdotal info on them working while using subs. Regardless I am going to eat them because that is the only way I will find out for sure.

^Thanks, I hope it does something because today the bupe is not doing much for me. Its has had plenty of time to kick in and its not cutting it at all, and I won't take more, don't think that will help. I maybe haven't waited long enough for it is help, hopefully as the day goes I start to have more relief form it.

^ Suboxone is usually most effective when you have been without an opiate for at least 24 hours. Are you taking the film or a pill? IMO tramadol only made me tired if I took it with suboxone. Due to your opiate tolerance you may need a higher dose of suboxone. I started at 8mgs 3x a day.

from my experience you should start to feel it around 30 minutes after you've placed the film under your tongue. by an hour it should be kicking in pretty good and by two hours after dosing you should pretty much be at the plateau for that particular dose. but i guess everyone's biochemistry is different.

^^I do believe that it works better after the 24 hour mark, even in the case of taking it earlier and redosing after 24 hrs, like I did today. I will tell you today I probably did it a little too early, but I didn't go into PWD. I had to work and felt like garbage, but not as bad as I would have been without the subs. I just got home and feel better. The tramadol did nothing, honestly did not notice a bit of difference after popping 2x 50 mg. Now I have to wonder if I just need more Subs, which I really doubt, because I used around 5.25 mgs today over a 12 our span and just did 1.5 so I don't wake up in middle of the night dying. But its been over 24 hours now and now I actually feel fine, though getting through with work was a huge relief, none tomorrow. In the long run I think its gain/loss situation with your op receptors when dosing Subs after only 12 hours clean from H. You lose the little bit of H still clinging on, but you fill a ton of empty receptors. The gain outweighs the loss here, its not PWD, its just not complete relief. I had no option to not go in, so I had to use the subs prior to 24 hours today.

^Yes it starts around 30 minutes and peaks around 1.5-2 hours I have experienced for the most part when it is working well for me.

Glad to hear things are working out for you, just an aside, while tramadol does work for some while on suboxone, bear in mind to not go too crazy as the seizure threshold still remains at the same danger level.

That is anything in excess of 200mg tramadol is risky, 350+mg is just asking for trouble. Most people with enough of a tolerance to be on subs won't even feel the tramadol at lower doses, so truly it's best to just avoid it.

Thanks for the info, I am guessing the people who enjoy them together either use the subs recreationally without much tolerance or have been on Sub maintenance for long enough to drop their dose of sub and also get a decent high off a weak opioid like tramadol. It makes sense that with my habit I wouldn't feel anything less than maybe 250 mg of tramadol if compare opioid conversion charts. I guess I had some hopes for the tramadol just to ease things a bit. But as is the case with many of the things you may try to ease withdrawal pain, you find little to no benefit and are so often disappointed.
