Opioids When Do Pills Expire?

Can some types of medication actually devolve, so to speak, into a different substance - or attract a specific type of contamination?

Not under typical storage conditions. Certain tetracycline antibiotics can get oxidised into toxic compounds (hence the careful packaging and expiry dates), but other than that most drugs won't do anything but lose potency.
