Started on the bud at 13, and was into daily use by 14. After a year of solid use moved on to bigger and better things, and become an e-tard, accompanied by the taking of lots of phett for a while between 15/16/17. Then came coke, which didn't last long partially because it left a massive dent in my wallet. Found the crystal at 18, along with cid. Then found heroin last Novembor <3. Textbook example of weed starting of a massive chain of drug use :D.

I was 16, the first drugs I tried were speed and ketamine mixed together in a line. Funny, because these two are my favourite drugs now <3
It was only a few weeks before I'd added methamphetamine and ecstasy to the list, weed a few months later, then coke, mushies etc. Heroin and oxycodone were the only drugs I've done that I didn't first try when I was 16, doing both of them for the first time at 20.

i think the first drug i tried was cannabis back in the 8th grade so yea i was likely 15. then i tried cocaine, amphets, codeine, hydrocodone, oxycodone, morphine sulfate, between 15-16 not really sure. tried mushrooms, mdma, acid around 15-16. tried crack, heroin, pcp, by 17.

I was 15, started out with weed, then e, then speed and then coke :d good times, wish i could have them back :d

Age demographics for addicts?

Would you say there's a certain age group that's most susceptible to addiction and if so why might that be?

It seems like 20's are a fucked up time for a lot of people. You don't really have the angst of a teenager but your thoughts about yourself and your future all seem blurry to say the least. I'm only 20 right now but feel like I've lost a lot of the spirit I had in my teens. Now I'm just trying to have some sort of ambition or focus in life.

And yea, it seems many people become addicted in their 20's and either recover after a few years or maintain their addiction for much longer...

I think it's getting younger, unfortunately! :(

I first smoked weed at 16, got into ecstasy at 18, and crystal meth shortly after my 23rd birthday.

But now it's not uncommon for 15-16 years olds to be trying hard drugs and risking serious addiction!

Been addicted to opiates since age 19 myself. I know a couple 17 year olds, a 16 year old, and a 15 year old all also addicted to IV opiates. They lie about their age so dope dealers will give them drugs and needles, since most dealers aren't going to do that for people that age (I'm in the suburbs, not the city, it's probably different there).

But in general, people seem to start using drugs at 16-18, then progress to addiction in their 20s. I don't know anyone who is addicted later in life that wasn't addicted in their 20s or younger (excluding cases of physical addiction due to legit prescription for legit condition).

I started my meth addiction when I was 16 but I would say the 20s is when serious addiction usually takes off, because that's when you'll typically start earning enough $$ to get one started. Mine really took off when I was 19 and started earning good money.

In your teens it seems ok, maybe even expected, to waste all your time/money partying, but now I'm 22 I'm becoming so much more conscious of what I want to do with my life...my friends are actually doing things like buying houses, and each month I waste is weighing more heavily on my mind...

I think that's true. Most teenagers tend to experiment with drugs, maybe using with friends occasionally for a bit of fun. It's often not until someone reaches the age of "adulthood" that drug use can become heavy and serious. I started meth at 23 (almost 2 years ago now), so I kinda skipped that teenage experimental stage and used frequently from the very beginning.

i was 16 when i got into drugs. i smoked weed and drank alcohol and tried a couple random pills before that, but didn't start getting really into it til 16

Started doing drugs at 14, by getting stoned, by the age of 15 I had done 15 other substances, here I am today having done 20.

shrooms at 16 yrs and 11 months. Had tried most of the well known street drugs by 17 1/2

Think I started smoking bud at 14, maybe 13. Tried bunk ecstasy when 14 as well, then tried prolly 30 other drugs before I was 15. Not a good year to be honest lol.

i was honestly expecting a lot more 10-12 year old starters.

personally, i started smoking weed regularly by age 16, first tried it when i was 15 along with mushrooms.
then at age 16, i tried meth, cocaine, and X and started doing coke and X.
at age 17, i started a opiate and ketamine regimen of every other day or everyday, and also tried LSD and some other RCs.
as soon as i graduated high school and a little after turning 18, i tried heroin and became severely addicted to it the first year insufflating and then followed by 2 years of IV. now i'm trying to get my soul back...

Started smoking pot at 14
First Vicodins at 15
First trips at 15, starting with ketamine (I wanted acid but couldn't find any)
Tried dope at 16, snorted, and 17, IV, never had problems with it in high school, even after picking up the needle
Really got into trouble with dope around 20/21, after taking a long break
Quit with bupe at 22.

Left out some of the less important milestones (other trips, other opiates, first roll, my "RC" stage, stims, etc.), but that's the main progression for me.

i can't really remember the first time i tried alcohol. i come from a russian family so it's common for kids to begin drinking early. the first time i smoked weed was in 8th grade. about half a year later i think i tried ecstasy(my first hard drug)

I'm porbably gonna be a blip around the 27 mark, but I've excluded weed as everyone knows it doesn't really count ;)

Mo-one in my immediate circle was really experimental until I moved to a bigger city and made some new friends. Started with coke and pills on nights out and just became more and more interested in the ways these tiny little substances could alter your mood. To me it beat drinking gallons of brown liquid to feel a bit woozy and throw up a kebab 4 hours later. After the thrill of hedonistic nights out wore off, I settled into dope and occassionally ketamine as my recreational drugs of choice.

Excuse me - didn't read properly that this was exclusively for self-identifying addicts. Maybe keep me up there in case I'm heading in that direction.
