I was thinking on this last night - I got quickly involved with people I really shouldn't have and got deeper than I could even understand at that point.

I do wonder what would have happened had I not met importers/distributors/chemists during early puberty.

I started smoking weed, drinking, and doing nitrous when I was 18, pretty much right around my high school graduation. Didn't start anything else until my second semester of Freshman year, but I was still technically 18 then I guess lol. I'm really glad that I waited until then to start doing anything, though, I think I wouldn't have been mature enough to handle it while still maintaining my good grades and all of the activities I was involved in that helped get me into the amazing school that I go to now. I had a crazy wild summer before going to college and I learned a lot about drugs during this time and tried to stay informed and learn about what's out there and what's safe and what's not etc. so by the time I started trying other things I like to think I was fairly safe about it, always wanted to make sure I knew what I was putting in my body and always making sure not to let my drug use come before school.

Damn, I'm not even 18 yet and I've been doing drugs since 13. Really wish I would've waited now, coulda been one of those "classy addicts".

17 weed/amphetamines/coke
19 heroin/benzos
21 nervous breakdown/lithium
.....
25 antidepressants
28 back to amphetamines occasionally

I suppose 14 is the rough age where curiosity, social pressures and senseless rebellion start to intertwine.

That or most are a bunch o' hormonal stoners! ;)

I was 11 when I started stealing T3's from my mum, then I started smoking weed shortly after that, and got into ecstasy around the age of 15, did acid, ketamine, benzos, fucked around with meth, you name it, but then realized I preferred downers to uppers and eventually moved to real opiates. *sigh* now I'm 22

I probably drank coffee at around 10y.o and had my first glass of wine at 13 but i was 15 the first time i got really drunk (at my brother's wedding). When i got home i was too fucked up, couldn't take my shirt off and just completely destroyed it (it was a very nice button shirt, my parents never found out :)).
I was always curious about weed so eventually started smoking daily at 16, drank a lot between 16-18 and also discovered psychedelics at 17 and loved them.
Since i started smoking weed i became very interested in drugs, the brain and pharmacology so i've tried a few things here and there but never really had a big drug problem (yet...). Never really liked stimulants and also avoided the stronger opiates and things like that so i guess thats kind of good

age 5 rx'd Dexedrine... Xanax at 12 quit that as a teen I went hard on the acid, weed a lot (still sporadically), hallucinogens as I made it through my teens and then went hard into drinking and coke, when manic. NICOTINE... sorry, ain't leaving that one out... hardest thing to stop there... opiates made me violent after a surgery and I smoked crack a couple of times and ketamine and angel dust were in the teens too... I rolled a little too and when I smoked meth, it wasn't too big for me... just made me act like I was on a lot of "sit down and shut up pills"

Either 10 or 11, I'll just vote 11 to make me feel better... it was definitely elementary school, like 3rd grade maybe. My brother got me into smoking weed so young it's actually quite disgusting. Sometimes I wonder how my life would have been different had I been an only child. Probably similar, as addiction runs strong in my family, but I'm sure I would've done a bit more growing up before delving into psychoactives.
Smoked my first joint the summer before fourth grade, 8 or 9, don't feel bad. My first hit of LSD was around 12, first opiate painkillers at 13, adderall here and there, lots of cocaine & alcohol by 14-16. This is also the time I tried heroin for the first few times, although I didn't start habitually using dope until bout 22-23. Mushrooms first time 15, meth first time 15. First time I was scripted pain killers (besides dental work) I was 15. First benzo script I was 17.

I began using drugs at age 19/20 because my friends were doing and I wanted to know what all the hype was about this stuff they called "dope". The first 2-3 times had little effect if any, then our dealer set me up with a "hotrail" and i remember that I was half stoned when I did it and I felt like tazmanian devil spinning with adrenaline. It was the most wonderful thing I had ever experienced, and at this point I still hadn't learned what drug I was using. One day I asked my buddy what that stuff is, and he replied "dope" and i asked WHAT it was and in a quiet voice he told me "its meth bro". I wasn't high when he told me this and I felt very ashamed of myself as well as angry towards him for giving me meth. Which I later felt resentful towards him and blamed my entire meth addiction on him, until I got sober the second time and through prayer and meditation came to accept that my addiction is my responsibility. He may have introduced me to the stuff, but I chose to play with fire after going two years without it to make a beast out of myself, to rid myself the pain of being a man..

I was 15 (senior year of high-school) when I first tried weed. Been smoking for almost 4 years. tobacco included. Started doing drugs at 16 and haven't stopped since. Though, I have drifted from reckless drug abuse thanks to this site and experience. I got into Hallucinogens at 17 and consider myself a Psychonaut. Now I'm almost 19, happy and responsibly use drugs and trip to expand my mind.

Started using drugs when I was fifteen.... I was totally straightedge, but then one day my sister, brother, and I chilled... I ended up drinking alcohol, smoking a cigarette, and smoking weed all in one day. Hahahaha. Moved onto more shit when I was 16.... full blown opiate addict at 17 and joined bluelight.... full blown heroin addict at 18 and so on. Lolololol so much for being against drugs and alcohol.

i believe it was in the sixth grade. i was introduced to cannabis. my journey with psychedelics begin at age 16 or 15. many drugs had come into my life between those two times. ecstasy, cocaine, other stimulants. methamphetamine was my baby. as i got older i took an interest in the world of prescription medication including benzodiazepines. and also more psychedelic substances as i got more older

I had a healthy curiosity about drugs from a very young age. I took a drink off a bottle of Jack Daniels at seven. I also insisted that my father let me take a puff off his tobacco pipe around the same age. I licked the coating off my stepfather's amitryptaline and fell to sleep early on a Saturday night at age nine. I then began experimenting on animals with drugs, primarily frogs and mice. I watched them get high. I watched some die. I smoked my first cigarette at 13 with my fellow derilect friends. I did not enjoy it and the addiction never took hold. Also at age 13, I spent the night at a friend's house. We chewed tobacco and drank two beers each then fell to sleep. The next weekend, I smoked cannabis with the same friend. I loved it. It tasted good, made me feel terrific, and there was no sickness to the experience during or after. My cannabis habit began then. It was cool and secretive. I had my pipe and a little container of weed, would sneak off and take a hit whenever, and the entire world improved and nobody knew about it. I had a key.

My drug use did not have a negative side until I was 17 and began experimenting with pills. I truly believe that if I were never introduced to pharmaceuticals and only did cannabis, traditional psychedelics, and ethnobotanicals, my drug use would not ever have become a problem. I understand this now, and am happily back to the clean side of psychoactives.

Apparently I never voted on this poll. Average of 14 sounds right.

I first drank to feel the effects @ 16, that's what I voted for anyway.

I first smoked weed and drank to the point of being wasted shortly after my 17th birthday.

Curiosity about drugs was with me from a very young age, but fear of them lasted well into high school. I knew the smell of pot early on of course, hippie states yknow %)
