When and why develops amphetamine tolerance and is it reversible?

Hi,
I'm taking amphetamine as medication. What happens if my body adapts to it? When I stop the meds for some days, will the tolerance diminuish? And can I restart with my dosing then?
And why tolerance doesn't develop in therapeutic doses? Or does it?
Does someone know the neurobioloical mechanisms of developing tolerance?
Regards,
logarithm

Yes your tolerance will diminish after a few days. The best way to keep your tolerance down is to take weekend breaks, and take magnesium (chelated works the best) along with your dosage.

Tolerance always develops, therapeutic or otherwise.

Is that magnesium stuff safe? Where should I buy this?

Why develops tolerance?

Well since somebody opened the floor with a (rather strange) question. Im pretty sure this common and rather important vitamin is reasonably safe and also due to never imagining i would ever have to answer this question, I will err on the side of caution and say that there may be a form of magnesium in a strip form that burns. This would not be the one you want, but i am sure as hell seeing a possible reason for the confusion and concerns, good god, is this the same stuff as the vitamin?! This should be a cause for concern!

I will ask mine as well.
How does other forms of magnesium compare to chelated and is there some dosage ratio.
I got the liquid and powder mag supplements used for stomach, acid and other stuff like that and i took a big dose, sulfate i think.
I did try it twice now and it seems to have some effects but im not sure.
I mean besides the obvious joy of finally being able to take a good shit on meth, this was truly magical and very interesting experience, for reasons i can not yet quite explain. I just had this feeling that something profound was taking place, beyond the physical pleasures, just outside my spectrum of understanding. I am still looking into this in more detail.

You have much to look into my friend. Lookup the basics of tolerance and up/down regulation of receptors before you ask about "neurobioloical mechanisms". Tolerance develops at any dose.

I heard that the magnesium hype might cause more damage than helping. If I consider taking it daily over years... perhaps this will lead to some bad nutricional effect.

Haha. Can you recommend a good book? I don't think the internet is the best source for complicated stuff.
I'm not sure if it is right what you are telling me. I take amphetamine every day and I can take it in the same dosage as in the beginning and I think I have the same effect.

The internet is plentiful with information, so is this forum. If you have an exact question maybe I can help.

Placebo. There's tons of grey area between the physiological effects and psychological effects of drugs. They all effect everybody differently. No matter what way you put it, these drugs cause upregulation of receptors. Leading to a degree of dependence and changes in brain chemistry - the reason why you feel anything to begin with. Magnesium can cause problems, but I doubt it should concern you. I take 250-500mg of Mg Oxide 3-5x a week. Sure there are plenty of ways to dial down a perfect diet and better forms of Mg. Overall a healthy diet and lifestyle mean more then anything. No need to go overboard.
